Kept my attention- which is hard these days. Excellent storytelling, I loved the characters and the growth they experienced. Think this may have helped me get over my reading slump!

Such a good book! Unsure at first but ended with what I needed to hear!
Revisado: 06-20-24
Extremely well written. I started off not liking either of the two MC’s for being wimps. By the end I realized that it was probably because I saw in them the pieces of myself I dislike the most. Intertwining true feelings and pain with her story kept me enthralled to the end I didn’t see coming. Ending took me completely by surprise. Excellent listen! Thank you!

Glad I stuck it out for the final book
Revisado: 04-11-23
I was a little hesitant after how slow and predictable book 2 was, but I’m glad I stuck it out for the final book. Less predictable, though there are some missing pieces, plot holes that felt like the author meant to add another chapter or twist that never happened. And I can’t help but feel there was a change in how the author or reader said a few words which always throws me off, but all in all a good listen! Enjoyed the story!

Historia
Days away from completing her first year at Miss Castwell’s Institute for the Magical Instruction of Young Ladies, Changeling-born Sarah Smith might just get away with posing as an upper-class Guardian girl named Cassandra Reed. But strange visions of a Lightbourne destroyed by Miss Morton’s revenant army keep Sarah from enjoying her achievement. Plus, the Mother Book, Sarah’s one secret advantage and the ultimate entrée in Guardian society, suddenly stops revealing itself to her...putting her in a precarious position with the Guild.

Bit slow, predictable twist, but had an unpredicted ending!
Revisado: 03-26-23
Exciting beginning, slooooooow middle, included a really overdone “I’m sacrificing my relationship because he will never understand or love me if he knows the truth!” trope. But the ending was actually pretty surprising. (Although the twist was predictable from the beginning) I want to read the next as I wasn’t predicting anything from the last chapter. Overall this is a great series, this just isn’t my favorite book in it.

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Fantastic and Fun!

I absolutely LOVED this story. Perfect marriage of RPG and DND with winks at familiar video game franchises and characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and only wish there was a series to continue the adventure.
