Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s. There’s Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can’t save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonizing death by cancer no matter how much sacrificial blood he pours on his “prayer log.”

couldn't stop listening.
Revisado: 06-02-16
I am a fan of the traditional Victorian Gothic trop: an old house shuttered with locked doors, pregnant with hidden rooms, lost objects, awful family secrets, love, loss, and ghosts...this novel had all of this and more. Told in a refreshing, insightful narrative that was off the cuff and poetic. The characters are powerful and thier stories intruiging. The voice actor for this was wonderful. It was like he was telling me his story gently, just me, on a warm summer night.

Historia
As the chief of police in Paris's seventh arrondissement, Commissaire Adamsberg has no jurisdiction in Ordebec. Yet, he cannot ignore a widow's plea. Her daughter Lina has seen a vision of the Ghost Riders with four nefarious men. According to the 1000-year-old legend, the vision means that the men will soon die a grisly death. When one of them disappears, Adamsberg races to Ordebec, where he becomes entranced by the gorgeous Lina - and embroiled in the small Normandy town's ancient feud.
