The book was well narrated and powerful in impact. I recommend reading it, especially if you are not well informed on the real truth of American domestic history.

An immense world is in itself a sensory voyage, through all of God’s creatures. A textbook and an adventure wrapped into one. I hope lay persons and scientists alike will explore this text and take actions toward preserving creatures who have senses.

Superb storytelling about an aviation drama

Captain John Murray, and his crew execute an unbelievable performance, under equally unbelievable circumstances in the ditching of their flight into the north Atlantic ocean. Reading this book teaches about aviation technologies of the time, prevailing attitudes among the nations involved, and introspective understanding of human resilience under stress, PTSD, and the methods to cope with consequences of our actions.

This is a must read, or better yet must listen to, book for any Climate advocate that finds themselves frustrated or disappointed in the progress we are making.

The author seems to have a talent to reach deep inside each of the characters and find meaning in everything they do. And even though the reader recognizes early on the inevitability that the two principals will meet, there is tension throughout and the feeling is about as compelling as any in my reading experience. The terrible life of both the victims and the aggressors made me realize anew that the horrors of war and the recurring tragedy of humanity and its struggles for power. This is one of the few books one can read and testify that it will truly change you forever.

Overall, I find this book to be very satisfying and instructive. My only disappointment was that I thought the book had been updated to go past the Trump administration. I would like to hear Fareed‘s commentary on each of the 10 chapters with respect to the performance of Joseph Biden.

The perspective of this book using folkways and culture as the basis of understanding American history is profound. A book like this should find its way into high school history curriculum as a counterbalance to the way history has been taught and learned. The insights and continuity of the folkways through several hundred years of time suggests a durability of this perspective and provides a new appreciation of where we have been, where we are, and where we are likely to go. Commendations to the author the narrator and the producer.

If I could I would write this book with six stars. There are 60 inconvenient truth in this book. I’m glad there were at least two that addressed my climate depression, because it is getting harder to live with the sense of inevitability that all the signs portend.

My hat is off to the wonderful women who assembled this anthology. There is so much to learn and so much to do.y

This is a story that reaches beyond and touches your heart. There is an ineffable quality to the story of Clara and how she interacts with the humans she serves and the son who eventually serves her. We should all be as respectful and loving to each other.

This is the voice is a very unusual book, combining history, anthropology, physiology, the arts, and more into an insightful treatise on what turns out to be the very essence of humanity. My humanity and yours. I picked it up, so to speak, in an audiobook format and I’m really glad to have done so. The narrator does more than justice in his performance about the subject all the way to the raspy tones in the last chapter appropriately in titled “coda“.For me, at age 84, that was the capstone and it’s message resonated as I resolve to, as the author says, project my voice with new confidence that what I have to say has meaning.

I cannot believe how much there is to learn about this subject and its connection to so many contemporary issues, Bj how we manage technology in the future, coping with systemic racism, I’m connecting with my fellow human beings in a hyper political society.

I would give this book 6 stars in all three readings if it were allowed. You’ll find it captivating, wonderful to return to, and I believe best listen to rather than read because of the outstanding production and audio performance by the narrator. After all, a book about the voice is best enjoyed using our ears assimilating the nuances of accent timber and prosody; a word new to me and oh so rich in meaning.
