Historia
Marlow needs to believe she's crazy. The alternative would mean embracing the gift—or curse—shared by her mother and grandmother: she can see angels and demons, including a dark and haunting entity who's been with Marlow her entire life. At least, she believes that's all he is until a fae from the Nordic pantheon strolls into her life and informs her that she's been sharing a bed with the Prince of Hell.

Engaging, Fresh, and Unforgettable
Revisado: 12-02-24
I absolutely loved The Deer and the Dragon! Piper CJ has delivered an incredible story that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The characters are so well-crafted—each one felt real, dynamic, and interesting, with layers that kept surprising me. The plot was a perfect balance of curiosity and freshness, weaving mythology and the supernatural in ways I haven’t seen before.
The pacing was just right, and I couldn’t help but devour chapter after chapter. The blend of modern and mythological elements was seamless, making this story feel both relatable and otherworldly. If you’re a fan of richly imagined worlds and captivating storytelling, this book is a must-read. I can’t wait to see what Piper CJ does next in this series!

Best book I’ve listened to all year
Revisado: 10-25-24
This story was one I could hardly put down, it pulled me in and kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters and development were interesting, and the scenery was right in my back yard of IL. Big thumbs up!

Historia
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

Historia
Mike Doughty first came to prominence as the leader of the band Soul Coughing then did an abrupt sonic left turn, much to the surprise of his audience, transforming into a solo performer of stark, dusky, but strangely hopeful tunes. He battled addiction, gave up fame when his old band was at the height of its popularity, and drove thousands of miles, alone, across America, with just an acoustic guitar.

Historia
This is not your mother's memoir. In The Chronology of Water, Lidia Yuknavitch expertly moves the listener through issues of gender, sexuality, violence, and the family from the point of view of a lifelong swimmer turned artist. In writing that explores the nature of memoir itself, her story traces the effect of extreme grief on a young woman's developing sexuality that some define as untraditional because of her attraction to both men and women.

This book changed my life.
Revisado: 05-07-21
I was given a physical copy of this in 2017, and since have purchased and subsequently gifted many copies to other women in my life. Other women who needed to read these words just as much as I did. This is the best book I have ever read, and it is a treat to listen to it here on audible.
