Historia
Criminologist Martin Knight lives a gilded life and is a thorn in the side of the police. But then his wife, Liz, goes missing. There is no good explanation and no sign of Martin.... To make things worse, Liz is the ex-girlfriend of DCI Craig Gillard who is drawn into the investigation. Is it just a missing person or something worse? And what relevance do the events around the shocking Girl F case, so taken up by Knight, have to do with the present? The truth is darker than you could ever have imagined.

really good story
Revisado: 01-05-25
I thought I wasn't going to like this book. I remember my mom reading the Scarpetta novels and loving them back in the early 90's. When it came up on the suggestions I decided to try it out. The book starts slow and the male voices on the narration are super cheesy, but after a bit the story takes hold and it was an enjoyable ride. The technology and forensic measures talked about are very outdated of course but were cutting edge at the time and the author's expansive knowledge was an asset to the story. It was i teresting to listen and remember how hard women had to work back then for acceptance as professionals and I think the author handled it expertly and in a realistic way. I am going to give the next one a listen as well.

Great Story & Narration
Revisado: 10-12-24
I was not sure about this book at first but was pleasantly surprised. The characters and plot were interesting. The story itself was straightforward and easy to follow. The ending left enough loose ends to flow into future books and I will be reading book two. I am fan of crime and mystery so this was a good slight diversion. Very much in the vein of Jack Reacher.

2nd Book Another Good Read!
Revisado: 09-22-24
I was directed to JD Kirk after listening to several Ian Rankin novels. I like the direct story line, likeability of the characters, and the great narration.
I feel like I am going to like this series better than Inspector Rebus. If you are looking for a well-written, interesting story this is it. And Angus King has a soothing voice and a great accent. I will be moving on to book 3!

Another Masterpiece from Ian Rankin
Revisado: 07-04-24
I have really been enjoying the Inspector Rebus series. Although written in the early 90's this book does not seem dated at all. The characters are interesting and I have enjoyed seeing them develop from book to book. And I like how each book is a stand-alone read but bits and pieces of other books intersect and add layers. This particular plot was a web of unseemingly un-connected events that come together eventually. And not in rushed way at the end. The whole story develops naturally. A truly great listen.

Historia
The body that turns up in Bron's garden has been there for decades, and he died of natural causes. Just rebury him and carry on as normal, right? But it's kinda hard to be normal when the ghost of the dead man has been disturbed, and now he want...well, just what does he want? It's down to Bron, a traditional hedge witch, to find out. If she doesn't, that ghost is going to be lingering in corners and upsetting kitchen chairs for the rest of her life. Creepy, tedious, and noisy, all at the same time.

Historia
John Rebus is on a train from Edinburgh to London, where he has been drafted for his expertise in the modus operandi of serial killers. The Wolfman could be his toughest case yet - a serial killer named by the press due to a terrifying trademark of taking a bite from each victim. Rebus' Scotland Yard opposite number, George Flight, isn't too happy at yet another interference in the investigation - especially from an upstart jock hounding him at every turn.

Great Story
Revisado: 04-28-24
This is the third Inspector Rebus book and I think this one was my favorite of the three I have read. I really enjoyed the change of scenery and the different cultures meeting. I think the author did a really good job with character development and telling a story that was interesting. And the outcome was a surprise. Ian Rankin has you right there with Rebus the whole time, methodically solving the crime piece by piece.
