Historia
Getting strong enough to survive was only the start. What was once horrific is now becoming an addiction. When an elder cultivator powerful enough to destroy Lars with a gesture spirits him away to the Sect of the Spring Rain, he ends up as the subject of a twisted plot to uncover and exploit his secret cultivation technique. Can he navigate the treacherous power struggles of the sect within, or will he be killed off by the factions vying for power? What happens if his grisly methods are exposed?

book 1 was tolerable but book 2 is loser slop
Revisado: 09-08-24
"Ohhh senior brother Lars let me give you head after you made me feel so good after almost murdering me". I haven't been able to stop cringing for half this book. The only motivation to keep going is the voice in his head who actually keeps the humor and flow. Every other character is just the absolute EVIL person and they have to be EVIL bc everyone is EVIL or hot animal lady that NEEDS the main character because he's just so powerful even though every time he speaks you need to force yourself to pay attention because he's so dull and cliche good guy. This book was written by some loser with power fantasy, written for frankly loser men. After the head scene I'm tapping out. Author is such a loser. Narrarator killed it tho frankly.

So it turns out overthrowing a 14,000-year-old cultivation empire is going to take longer than I expected, but I've made a great start. I've broken through to the Core Realm of my hidden Berserker art, established a new Terran Sect, and even discovered a tribe of lost Terrans out in the wild. There's a whole lot more at stake and even more people to save, but that's all the more reason to free the Earth from the empire's control. Not everyone is thrilled about my progression, however.

Still worth the listen but definitely lacked the palazz of the first one. Cassie is really boring so far. Hero also never loses, makes it all pretty predictable.

Historia
In the distant past, a time of magic and swordplay, there lived Harold, the mightiest lich of all, a master of arcane sciences, and a challenger of gods. After reaching the pinnacle of his power and finding it surprisingly bland, Harold waged a cataclysmic war against the gods, aiming to shatter the very system that confined him. He took a nap, but he is awake once more.

I guess this book series just isn't what I thought it would be. There was such world building in the 1st one I thought a lot more would happen in book 2. it just focused on the mantis girls who had no character growth or significance in the story. it was entertaining though. The only time I genuinely enjoyed it was when Harold was interacting. Jeff Hayes absolutely did NOT get enough time. Narrorator for Harold cracks me up though. Mans voice is like chocolate. Think I'm tapping out for this series though.

Revisado: 06-07-24
Wish I could talk about a lot of the things that happened but I'm not one for spoilers. narrarator is so impressive with all his voices and accents. The alchemy explanations dragged on a bit but it's worth the drama. I teared up a bit when Gree was telling his daughter about her growing up. 1st one was much more action packed but this one flew by. Love these characters. Douglas is an excellent addition by the way he cracks me up. YOU'D BETTER NOT KILL A CERTAIN SPIRIT BEAST IN THE NEXT BOOK I CAN FEEL IT COMING.

Funnier than hell. The comedy was top tier in this one, better story-wise in #1. Narrarators absolutely killed it. I'm very impressed at all the accents they're able to do. Can't wait for more of "Cristans(?)" sword. Lots to unravel there. Thanks for the killer book🙏🙏

Historia
When the cultivators came to Earth, they destroyed our entire civilization in a matter of hours. Armies fell, cities burned, and that was before the moon turned red and filled our world with monsters. Now, over a decade later, what's left of humanity slaves under the heels of our Qi-infused masters. The luckiest of us might even become one of them, they say—if we serve the Dynasty well enough and harness the power of Qi. But I want none of that. I'm sick of serving, and I want nothing to do with their world. Instead, I want them to pay for what they did to mine.

Narrator absolutely killed it
Revisado: 03-16-24
Audio books usually bug me with dispassionate or disinterested narrarators but MAN this guy didn't miss a BEAT. Everytime id start to zone out he'd bring me back with pure passion. His girl voices are a little silly but he's got a deep voice it's to be expected. He has some RANGE for the male voices though, I'd be able to tell what character was speaking by gruff or accent alone. He'd get me HYPED for the fights man that's hard to do with me when characters gotta yell silly anime attacks. Absolute berserker material. His dramatic sad scenes even got me teary eye'd a time or 3 I won't lie. I really liked the story, Just the right amount of cheesy. Loved all the characters. Super interesting world building. Bit of same formula but I've got nothing to complain about. Solid book through and through. I was cheering and dreading for max the whole way.

Historia
Ashlock wakes in the courtyard of a demonic sect... as a tree. A tree that eats people. An odd start to a new life. Almost as strange as the humans flying through the skies on flaming swords and challenging the heavens. After all, this is a world where humans could chase the goal of immortality through the art of cultivation. But Ashlock is merely a sapling in a desolate courtyard, left alone with his thoughts and unable to speak to those passing him by. Unless he does something about it.
