Historia
First published in 1976, Paul Johnson's exceptional study of Christianity has been loved and widely hailed for its intensive research, writing, and magnitude. Weaving a great range of material, the scholar and author Johnson creates an ambitious panoramic overview of the evolution of the Western world since the founding of a little-known "Jesus sect".

Johnson is a fraud
Revisado: 08-17-24
This is just another attempt by Johnson to denigrate the Christian faith. His reasoning is so illogical it’s impossible to listen beyond the first few chapters. He starts off by saying all of the original sources are unreliable, and then goes on to say over and over again that the sources Are incorrect. It is just a time after time ridiculing of a set of gospels that were never meant to be analyzed in this cryptic format. Johnson is a Christian Vader, one could also say he’s a Christian hater. She makes value judgments, subjective interpretations of the motives of Individuals in the Christian Canning. He criticizes the four main text for not being well put together. I find it unbelievably ironic at 2000 years later, with all the tools at Johnson’s disposal his text is when I would say is equally disjointed and un unreadable I wish I had never purchased thisaudiobook this one is equally as bad as his first I thought I would give his writing one more chance because of his pedigree, but apparently he was just passed along like so many college professors are.

His total disdain for Christianity
Revisado: 02-15-24
Each of the other “Great Religions” courses were instructed by practitioners of those faiths. Christianity was taught by a man who appears to be a stand-up comedian. He ridiculed and demeaned the faith at every opportunity. So immensely disappointed.

Argument against not an explanation of.....
Revisado: 02-26-20
Dale is clever. He starts the book claiming to be curious and quickly descends into a lecture on the faults within many versions of christianity in dealing with the trinity. He takes an almost scientific and semantical look at the trinity and deems it wanting. What he fails to recognizes is that the trinity, like God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is an exercise in faith. Faith is what make the trinity real and none of his arguments will change that. Don't buy if you are looking for a faith based understanding.

Historia
Know thy enemy. That's what the wisdom of history teaches us. And Adolf Hitler was surely the greatest enemy ever faced by modern civilization. Over half a century later, the horror, fascination, and questions still linger: How could a man like Hitler and a movement like Nazism come to power in 20th-century Germany – an industrially developed country with a highly educated population? How were the Nazis able to establish the foundations of a totalitarian regime in such a short time and hurl all of Europe – and the world – into a devastating war that would consume so many millions of lives? Professor Childers has designed this gripping 12-lecture course to shed light on these and other questions that have plagued generations.

Dr. Childers inexorably use the term inexorable
Revisado: 07-15-17
What did you like best about A History of Hitler's Empire, 2nd Edition? What did you like least?
emmmmmm, AND, inexorable, three speech uses that almost ruin the course. Also, he repeats himself over and over. 7/12 of the course is the lead up to Hitler taking power. Could have been far shorter. Far too important a topic to botch this badly.
Would you be willing to try another one of Professor Thomas Childers’s performances?
no
Was A History of Hitler's Empire, 2nd Edition worth the listening time?
not really

Historia
Even today, almost five decades after John F. Kennedy was slain, the public continues to be captivated by the "Kennedy Curse" and new theories about what really happened on that fateful day in 1963. For nearly 50 years former Secret Service agent Clint Hill has lived with the unimaginable guilt of losing a president on his watch and has obeyed an honor code of silence, refusing to contribute to any books about the assassination. Until now.

Reader ruins the story
Revisado: 03-04-16
What did you like best about The Kennedy Detail? What did you like least?
It was an interesting account of how the Secret Service viewed their role. I have a hard time reading a story in which the author believes that the SS never made a mistake. In his opinion they did everything right, yet the President still died.
What didn’t you like about Alan Sklar’s performance?
The most annoying part of listening to the tape was that the reader continuously mis-pronounce JFK's daughters name. How in Gods name did that get through the editing process. Low quality.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No

Historia
Between 1937 and 1945, approximately 55 million people perished in the series of interrelated conflicts known as the Second World War. No continent was left untouched, no ocean unaffected. The war led to the eclipse of Europe and the emergence of the United States and the Soviet Union as global superpowers; ushered in the atomic age; produced, in the Holocaust, the most horrific crime ever committed in the history of Western civilization, and led to the end of Europe's colonial empires around the world.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
Childers is really good, however, I am not crazy about his presentation style in this lecture.
