Historia
Former spy Maggie Bird came to the seaside village of Purity, Maine, eager to put the past behind her after a mission went tragically wrong. These days, she’s living quietly on her chicken farm, still wary of blowback from the events that forced her early retirement. But when a body turns up in Maggie’s driveway, she knows it’s a message from former foes who haven’t forgotten her. Maggie turns to her local circle of old friends—all retirees from the CIA—to help uncover the truth about who is trying to kill her, and why.

The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organisation that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths. In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner Robin Ellacott decides to infiltrate the cult and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito amongst them. But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her.

Masterful storytelling
Revisado: 10-10-23
First off the narration on these Strike novels is absolutely top-notch – Robert Glenister does a fabulous job as usual – I have heard all the Strike & Robin books as an audiobook and have to say the narration is so good it keeps you in the scene and amidst the characters of which there are so many in this book.
So happy that the time between Strike books has been reduced to like a year ; I guess JK Rowling has already mapped out the plots & the overarching storylines in this series – which is great news for us fans! Absolutely loved this book ; many driveway moments! Now the wait begins for the next one…

Historia
Fletch, now newly engaged and happily living out his days in Italy, finds himself embroiled in yet another scandal. His soon-to-be father-in-law has been kidnapped and is now presumed dead, and the priceless collection of rare art that belongs to his fiancée’s family has been stolen. Ever the investigative reporter, he receives a tip about the missing art that lands him in Boston, where he walks right into a murder scene in his apartment. What clearly looks like a setup to the unfazed Fletch looks quite different to the detective assigned to the case, Mr. Francis Xavier Flynn.

Saw the movie & then heard this
Revisado: 01-01-23
Both the movie and this audiobook are so entertaining ; whodunit and art in a mystery is already a great combination & in this case both are so much fun! Loved them and have discovered the Fletch series in the bargain!

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

suspensful thriller with an enticing plot
Revisado: 09-17-12
Dark story which slowly reveals itself, keeping you always captivated. Great character depth, wonderfully brought out by Gillian Flynn. I especially liked the narrative styles and the two narrators did an awesome job. Overall very satisfying.
