Historia
Nobody has a “normal” family, but Vesper Wright’s is truly...something else. Vesper left home at eighteen and never looked back—mostly because she was told that leaving the staunchly religious community she grew up in meant she couldn’t return. But then an envelope arrives on her doorstep.

Good commentary on abuse but also predictable
Revisado: 05-23-24
This book is a bit of a slow burn but the author does a good job writing the bleak and mundane. The characters seem well thought out and are easy to imagine (even if the main character is a bit of a Mary Sue). The story took a turn I wasn't expecting but by the time the plot expands for a second time, I had already guessed what was going to happen. The epilogue tied everything together nicely which was also a plus. Overall this was a fun enough story with good narration

Amazing story with an even more amazing narration
Revisado: 05-17-24
I'd never heard of this author before but the cover had me intrigued so I figured I'd give it a listen. I'm so glad I took a chance on this book because it was amazing. The story telling was great and even in the slightly mundane sections, I never found myself getting bored. The twist at the end was nice and not overly predictable and the epilogue tied everything together nicely. I also really enjoyed the narration and the fact that multiple narrators were used for the different characters. Overall I would definitely recommend this book.

Historia
Two Truths and a Lie. The girls played it all the time in their cabin at Camp Nightingale. Vivian, Natalie, Allison, and first-time camper Emma Davis, the youngest of the group. But the games ended the night Emma sleepily watched the others sneak out of the cabin into the darkness. The last she - or anyone - saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips. Now a rising star in the NYC art scene, Emma's paintings catch the attention of Francesca Harris-White, the socialite and wealthy owner of the very same Camp Nightingale.

Ending felt rushed
Revisado: 03-16-24
This is the second book I've read from Riley Sager (the first being Home Before Dark). I loved the first one but this one was a bit of a miss for me. I loved the atmosphere and the initial mystery of the story sounded interesting however the story felt a bit mundane.
I got through two thirds of the book before any real conflict started happening. Since the drama didn't happen until so late in the book, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed and unresolved. I would've loved for the big twist to happen toward the middle of the book rather than in the last handful of pages.
Overall, I like Riley Sager as an author but I think this book just wasn't for me.
