Historia
In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The impact of sharing her voice—her truth—was undeniable, and it changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others. The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.

Overall a powerful story about what she went through
Revisado: 11-28-23
I appreciate the book for how it explains what happened with her family and how they exploited and abused her. I do find her to be a bit childish in how she explains her relationship with JT and how the breakup affected her long after the relationship ended. I would be interested in hearing his account of what happened. They were both so young and I think it’s unrealistic to think they would have lasted. I hope her father suffers for what he did to her, and the doctors who drugged her and kept her locked up should lose their licenses.

This book drags on with no real point. I regret purchasing it. Don’t bother. I found it hard to follow/finish.

Slow start but great story
Revisado: 05-02-23
When I started this book I was a bit hesitant about it because it seemed like a slow start. I’m glad I was patient with it because it got a lot better and I really enjoyed it.

Historia
Leah and McKenna have never met, though they have parallel lives. They don’t—ever—find themselves in the same train carriage or meet accidentally at the gym or the coffee shop. They don’t—ever—discuss their problems and find common ground. They don’t—ever—acknowledge to each other that although their lives have all the trappings of success, wealth and happiness, they are, in fact, trapped.

Good story with one poor narrator
Revisado: 04-25-23
Overall it was a good story although it didn’t have much of an ending. I felt as if the author could have done more with that or added an epilogue. The narrator for Leah is horrible. You can tell she is reading the story word for word and it’s almost as if she loses her place in some spots. In others it seems as if she has trouble understanding what she’s reading. Otherwise not a bad read.

William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

Super long
Revisado: 03-24-23
I lost interest about a third into it. Managed to get back into the story but it’s an awfully long book. Tells the story of a woman and her sisters, with a sad love story tossed in. Never really got the point.

Historia
Gray Nolan's biggest problem in life was the torch he carried for his closeted coach. He was just another happy-go-lucky dude, a college student and hockey player, when his ordinary existence was interrupted, and he became a human trafficking statistic. He and seven other young men were taken aboard a luxurious yacht, where they were to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Gray was beaten, shattered, and almost defeated by the time his buyer stepped out of the shadows in a swirl of his own cigarette smoke.

Heart wrenching, well told story
Revisado: 02-24-23
The narrator did a good job of telling the story in an engaging manner. I was riveted from the beginning. It’s heartbreaking to hear of all the abuse that has been going on in the Amish community and how it has been ignored. I hope this book helps others to come forward and put an end to the silence regarding this issue. Thank you to the author for sharing her story.

This is a story that needs to be told. Very powerful writing and I appreciated her candor. My only criticism is that I feel like it’s longer than it needs to be.
