A top tier read
Revisado: 05-05-24
Like many of my generation, I became a fan of Peck via The Amanda Show & Drake & Josh. His life story shows that everyone has hurts weighing in us whether we acknowledge it or not- it’s up to us to take time and deal with them- transfer our feelings into positive actions. Highly recommend.

Moving & Memorable
Revisado: 03-27-24
I’ve been devouring romance novels since high school, so Danielle Steel’s name is like air- important, but taken for granted. Only now on my own road to being a published author do I see why she is so revered. Her Heroine is engaging & the plot is beyond spellbinding as if Steel held a mirror to reflect the struggles authors may face. Wiping my eyes twice while reading, it’s obvious I give this book a recommendation- Steel can add me to her fandom.

An Eye Opening Read
Revisado: 03-24-24
After seeing a video about Veggie Tales’ creation, I decided to buy this. Not only was Phil a good narrator, he spoke of how he wanted to use his talents to spread God’s message. Phil’s story is a tale of persistence, an Icarus analogy, & a lesson in balancing entertainment with enlightenment in faith based family programming. Highly duggested not only for fans of his work, but for creative entrepreneurs.

Historia
In a signed copy of his autobiography, Texas-born country "outlaw" icon Waylon Jennings penned a personal note to his son Terry: "I did my best. Now it's your turn." Two decades later, Terry Jennings finally completes the true story of his father's remarkable, unvarnished life with Waylon: Tales of My Outlaw Dad. Born when Waylon was only 19, Terry came of age just as Waylon's career hit the stratosphere with hits like "I've Always Been Crazy" and "Good Hearted Woman", one of his famous Willie Nelson duets.

Historia
Miles Morales is just your average teenager. Dinner every Sunday with his parents, chilling out playing old-school video games with his best friend, Ganke, crushing on brainy, beautiful poet Alicia. He's even got a scholarship spot at the prestigious Brooklyn Visions Academy. Oh yeah, and he's Spider Man. But lately Miles' Spidey-sense has been on the fritz. When a misunderstanding leads to his suspension from school, Miles begins to question his abilities.

A Modern Day Stan Lee Story
Revisado: 12-08-17
What did you love best about Miles Morales: Spider-Man?
Jason Reynolds used the characters in Miles' world to full effect, speaking on issues of racial discrimination and economic bigotry in ways that anyone in the audience can understand. That, combined with the great portrayal of his teenage characters makes the story a great listen.
What did you like best about this story?
The narration was well spoken, each word flowing after the other. The annunciation and use of pauses and voice tempo really gave me the sense of it being more of a drama than a book being read.
Have you listened to any of Guy Lockard’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I only picked this up because of the title, but after finishing it I want to hear more of Lockhard's stuff. He performed excellently and, as I said, made the book seem like a movie.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Miles' reflection on his time with his uncle throughout the story really moved me. I felt the pain and uncertainty he felt every time he thought he was "just like him". The most evocative was when he took down the thief in his neighborhood, I really felt every action\emotion as they came.
Any additional comments?
I only had casual knowledge of Miles Morales from reading about him, but thanks to Jason Reynolds I now feel like I understand and connect with him on a level other than "a black superhero with the same problems as me, I can relate". This novel is the pinnacle of what Stan Lee means when he recounts his days writing comics: characters that are powerful, but are people with problems and real life challenges to overcome just like us. I recommend this to anyone who wants not only a good superhero story, but a tale of overcoming adversity and coming of age. P.S. Mr. Reynolds, I would pay any price if you wrote a Spider-Man story at Marvel, be it Miles or Peter. PLEASE consider the thought.
