Historia
When Matilda Benson solicits the help of Perry Mason, her request seems simple enough: cruise to a gambling ship moored just beyond the twelve-mile limit and buy back the IOUs signed by Miss Benson's niece. But after Mason reaches the floating casino, he discovers problems aplenty - most notably the ship's owner with a bullet hole through his head. Strangely enough, Matilda and her niece are also on board that night...when someone tosses a gun over the railing. Does Perry Mason's client have something to hide?

Nice job of old lady voice. . Mel Brooks
Revisado: 11-02-21
I liked the story. Alexander had too many voices. Old lady is not one. As an old lady, I can let him know I don't know anyone my age that sounds like that.

Historia
Despite the dismal Broadway season, Gunplay continues to draw crowds. A gangland spectacle, it's packed to the gills with action, explosions, and gunfire. In fact, Gunplay is so loud that no one notices the killing of Monte Field. In a sold-out theater, Field is found dead partway through the second act, surrounded by empty seats. The police hold the crowd and call for the one man who can untangle this daring murder: Inspector Richard Queen.

Dated but goof
Revisado: 09-06-21
I wish the man narrating did Perry Mason. The story was decent dated. I had trouble sitting in 1929 while listening in 2021.

Narrator needs stol
Revisado: 08-02-21
I've listened to several Perry Mason books read by Cendese and he annoys me. His women share the same voice frequently which makes it difficult to understand at times. Furthermore the way he breaks up dialog with "he said", for example, are completely, in my opinion, miss read. These books are filled with conversation. The way these are read seems to me that he doesn't understand what he is reading. The descriptions, on the other hand, are fine. I enjoyed listening to them.

Historia
In Mayfield, Delaware, the carnival is in town. Seventeen-year-old Lexi Cartwright, daughter of the local deputy sheriff and leading lady of her high school drama club, expects nothing more from her weekend than a few hours of fun, and perhaps a kiss from Eddie Ross. But for Lexi - and for the rest of the 11th Hour Players - the real monsters aren't in the Pavilion of the Unusuals, and the real terror isn't on the Ferris wheel. It's lurking in the Funhouse.

Not written for my demographic
Revisado: 09-22-14
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this to a friend who likes books about vampires or someone in high school. I am neither. I thought it started out a little slow but it picked up. It is not juvenile but it is for a younger crowd.
What didn’t you like about Jessica McEvoy’s performance?
I got distracted by her execution of the letter 'T'. Mutton becomes muh'in. I find myself concentrating on that and not what she is saying.
Any additional comments?
This was recommended to me by a friend. I do not normally read vampire/zombie books. This and the fact that it was written for the young adult audience colors my view from the first word. (my children have not been young adults for a number of years)
If you like vampires and books written for younger audiences, younger than senior citizens, this is probably a better fit for you than it was for me. Strangely enough I will recommend this to a couple of people I know.
I was rather impressed by the ending. I'd go into it but that might be a spoiler.
