Impacted
Revisado: 10-01-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This series was an excellent and quick read. Very good story from an alternate universe. I wish there had been an extra book in there as there was a lot of action between Book 2 and Book 3 that was only briefly talked about in Final Impact.
What did you like best about this story?
A different slant to World War II
What does Jay Snyder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think that Mr. Snyder did a great job with the narration and characters.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The end of J. Edgar Hoover
Any additional comments?
Great series right up there with Harry Turtledove

Historia
It is 1939. Russia teeters on the verge of war with Germany. It is also on the brink of bankruptcy. To preserve his regime, Stalin orders a search for the legendary missing gold of Tsar Nicholas II. For this task, he chooses Pekkala, the former investigator for the Tsar. To accomplish his mission, Pekkala will go undercover, returning to Siberia and the nightmare of his own past, where he was once a prisoner in the notorious Gulag known as Borodok. Pekkala must infiltrate a gang of convicts still loyal to the Tsar who, it is rumored, know the whereabouts of the precious gold.

Would you listen to Archive 17 again? Why?
I love this series of Eastland's books. They are well written and historically accurate. I can not put them down. I listen to them on my way to and from work and hate to turn them off when I get to my destination.
What did you like best about this story?
The storyline puts you there and the reader is great.
Which scene was your favorite?
Pekala's meetings with Stalin. You can almost believe that is what would happen.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It certainly was
Any additional comments?
My favorite mystery series. When is the next one coming out?

Historia
It is 1891, and London is still reeling from the horror of the unsolved Ripper murders when Inspector Lestrade is sent to the Isle of Wight to investigate a strange corpse found walled up in Shanklin Chine. It is merely the beginning of a series of brutal and bizarre killings so apparently random, that only a warped genius could be responsible.

Where does The Adventures of Inspector Lestrade rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Excellent storyline and fast moving that held me to the end. Trow is an excellent author and narrator.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Inspector Lestrade, as Trow depicts him as a resolute investigator, who does not allow Holmes to deflect him in his duties.
Which scene was your favorite?
The end which I will not give away here. It was excellent right up to the very last word.
Any additional comments?
Very good series. I have read two now and will definately read the rest. Trow is now one of my favorites.

Historia
Baron Herbert’s return from crusade should have been a joyous occasion. Instead, he grows increasingly morose, withdraws from his family, and refuses to share his wife’s bed. When his sons begin to die in strange accidents, some ask whether Herbert harbors a dark sin for which God has cursed him. Or perhaps there is a malign presence at this stormblasted castle, oddly named Doux et Dur.

Romance?
Revisado: 02-21-12
What did you like best about A Killing Season? What did you like least?
The story line is very interesting, but these novels are moving closer to romance than historical mystery.
Would you be willing to try another book from Priscilla Royal? Why or why not?
I am going to have to consider the future novels from Ms. Royal as I feel that the romance factor is beginning to annoy me.
Have you listened to any of Wanda McCaddon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have and Ms. McCaddon is an excellent reader.
Did A Killing Season inspire you to do anything?
Read another Susan Gregory novel.
Any additional comments?
I wish Ms. Royal would stick to the historical mystery instead of throwing in a lot of romance and sex. Her earlier novels were excellent and this one was but it seems like her main character needs to leave the convent and find her a MAN.
