Mitch Delivers!
Revisado: 11-08-23
Another great book from Mitch. This is extremely practical. The 10 day challenge is something I’ve implemented and seen success from. His reading and writing are spot on as always!
Anarchic magic is a fun concept that he touches on at the end of the book and is worth the purchase price alone.

Traditional Qabalistic sources (or Cabalistic, or, indeed, Kabbalistic - listen to this book to find out what the difference is...we know you've always wondered!) tend to be a bit, er, dry. Lon Milo DuQuette spices up the Qabalah and makes it come alive, restoring the joy of learning the fundamentals of this admittedly arcane system by using simple, amusing anecdotes and metaphors.

But behind the heady debates is a terrific story—one that anyone can understand, and one that has gripped people for ages. If you are not a Bible scholar but want to be able to listen to Genesis and understand its big picture, this brief, witty book is the guide you've been waiting for.

Amazing stuff from Jared and Pete. A true blessing. The topic is similar to one of the BFNP podcasts on the Genesis being about Israel, but instead of being a quick taste it’s an entire meal. Wonderful stuff.
Praise God that there are Christians like Jared and Pete out there who think and teach as Christians should.

Great Information, Incredible Reading!
Revisado: 10-24-19
As someone with only cursory knowledge of Gnosticism this book was an excellent starting point.
It’s examination of early Christianity was humanizing.
I could listen to Lorna Raver read a Car Owner’s Manual and I would be in heaven. She’s incredible, warm, and authoritative all at the same time.

I Appreciate the Historical significance but it’s only ok...
Revisado: 04-27-19
The WoT is a modern classic that I somehow have never read. I’m sure I’m the early 1990s this was different and exciting but it’s been built upon so seems a bit formulaic. It’s well done and the readers are amazing. I’ll continue the series, as it was well written, but it wasn’t mind blowing. My expectations may have been high...

Historia
In this definitive biography, renowned Bible scholar, Anglican bishop, and best-selling author N. T. Wright offers a radical look at the apostle Paul, illuminating the humanity and remarkable achievements of this intellectual who invented Christian theology - transforming a faith and changing the world. For centuries, Paul, the apostle who "saw the light on the Road to Damascus" and made a miraculous conversion from zealous Pharisee persecutor to devoted follower of Christ, has been one of the church's most widely cited saints.

A Great Narrative of the Life of Paul
Revisado: 02-07-19
NT Wright takes the life of Paul and gives us the events of his life and the mindset of a 1st century Jewish scholar. He really puts the letters of Paul in the context of the time and allows us the ability to see the letters are written from a real person to real people.
The last chapter is more theological and something I really enjoyed listening to as well, though it acts as a coda to the narrative. If you're a Christian this book is fantastic. If you're just interested in 1st Century Rome (specifically Jewish culture) this is also a great read.
The reader is fantastic. Though I think Wright has an amazing reading voice himself, the reader does an amazing job of keeping the story human, and still getting the facts across.
Highly recommend this book.

A Fun YA Read!
Revisado: 01-31-19
This was a fun book. I know there have been some issues with the narrator but I didn't see it as a big problem. He is more of a narrator than someone who acts out every character, which works with this story.
The story itself is pretty standard YA fiction and breaks the mold a bit. It is done very very well though. The characters are well fleshed out and the two twists at the end work.
Enjoyed listening to it and look forward to the next one!

A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Great Stories, Great Reading!
Revisado: 01-18-19
I loved this book. It's really a collection of 3 stories about Dunk and Egg a charming heroic pair. Though it takes place in the SoI&F world it doesn't quite have the same feel. This is more fun fantasy than the grim dark of the rest of the series.
I cannot wait for more books about these two heroes and their travels around Westeros.

Biblical Approach for De/Reconstructing Christian
Revisado: 08-02-18
For those who left the church or are questioning their faith this book is excellent. I know that in my (former) Evangelical tradition the Bible was treated as though it were Christ. So any inconsistency/inaccuracy meant that the whole faith was invalid. This book does a great job of showing how the Bible is not inerrant but still central to faith in Christ.
It uses the Bible, history and sociology to make this point without ever being too dry or scholarly. This is a well written book that anyone can enjoy.
I highly recommend it.
Joe Barrett does a great job. He really captures Peter Enns' dry sarcastic humor.
