Historia
At fifty-five, Madeline Harper faces an unexpected plot twist in her own life, much like the romantic tales she pens. Once a celebrated romance author, she now confronts a crumbling marriage and a career at the brink of collapse. Her latest manuscript is rejected, and her agent delivers an ultimatum: reinvent your writing or risk fading into obscurity.

Heartwarming
Revisado: 12-16-24
I really enjoyed this introduction to Jubilee. The story was interesting, the characters lovable, and the romance sweet. It was especially nice to encounter a main couple who were more mature than the usual 20-somethings most romantic novels portray. I did feel the ending was a little too abrupt. While the reader was adequate and had a pleasant voice, it was a little disconcerting to hear her stumbling occasionally with the performance. It was also a little difficult to follow the dialogue occasionally, because her inflection never changed from one voice to another. All-in-all it was an enjoyable listen, and I will probably continue the series.

Historia
Lauren Richmond isn’t a fan of Christmas. Which is why she rarely makes the trip home to the Midwest for the holidays. After all, she has plenty to keep her busy—namely, her duties as a set decorator on a TV sitcom. But this December, Lauren‘s brother and his wife are expecting a baby, so her brother arranges a ride home for her with his good friend, Will. Unfortunately for Lauren, she’s been trying to forget college baseball coach and childhood crush Will Sinclair for more than 10 years. Now she’s stuck in a car with him from California to Illinois.

Heartwarming and Adorable
Revisado: 12-13-24
Such a sweet romance. Two people with past hurts coming together and finding mercy and grace. Funny, quirky, heartstring-tugging, and oh so romantic. Thank you to the actors for giving the voices just the right subtle touches. Sometimes male/female voice overs can feel a little cringy in the audible romance genre, but these performances were very well done.

Historia
I haven't been home for Christmas in eight years. That's about to change. This year, I'm traveling to my small hometown to convince my producer to make me the permanent host of Good Day Denver. The plan: Charm viewers by sharing my favorite family Christmas traditions and, in turn, get the likes, clicks, and shares to land the job. Not the plan: Run into my ex-boyfriend. In my house. For Christmas. Here he is, a guest of my mother, who apparently had more trouble letting go of Max Weber than I did.

Revisado: 05-15-24
I’ve become a big fan of Courtney Walsh’s books. I’ll admit this one pulled at my heartstrings more than some, but it had warm and likeable characters, as well as the trademark humor and swoony-ness I’ve come to expect.

A chance meeting. A hunky hockey player. A fake romance. Hardly an ordinary day in the life of Poppy Hart. My days usually consist of agonizing over my failing restaurant, worrying about my mountain of debt, and nursing my broken heart. Everything changes when I bump into a man in the coffee shop and claim him as my new boyfriend. To my absolute horror, he turns out to be hockey's most renowned bad boy, Dallas Burke. To my absolute delight, he goes along with my story.

Romantic sizzles with humor and heart
Revisado: 04-29-24
This was my first Courtney Walsh book. I’m hooked. It had all the thrills and chills without any smut. The dialogue is snappy and humorous. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at several points. The characters felt warm and real, and I found myself routing for them to overcome every obstacle. It was so refreshing to read romantic scenes that gave me goosebumps, but didn’t make me feel like a peeping Tom. The readers were great actors, which is not always the case with audio books. My only negative would be that it’s a bit off-putting to hear a male voice attempting the female lines. I know there are probably logistical issues with recordings that might make it hard, but I would love to hear all the male thoughts and dialogue in only a male voice, and ditto for the female. It was a very minor distraction, though, to what was an extremely enjoyable experience.

Murder, mystery, romance, and a treasure!
Revisado: 11-29-23
This book has everything. A shocking murder mystery to solve. A sweet romance blossoming. Shame and forgiveness. Honor and trustworthiness. A fun treasure hunt. I loved the history angle. Reminded me of the protagonist in National Treasure. The reader is a wonderful actress. Subtle differences in the voices, without any overdone accents. Really enjoyable in every way. I’m loving this series.

Historia
In Sweden there is a kind of decluttering called döstädning, dö meaning "death" and städning meaning "cleaning." This surprising and invigorating process of clearing out unnecessary belongings can be undertaken at any age or life stage but should be done sooner rather than later, before others have to do it for you. In The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, artist Margareta Magnusson, with Scandinavian humor and wisdom, instructs listeners to embrace minimalism.

A clever idea for a story
Revisado: 08-06-23
A very clever idea for a story, mixing elements of historical, science, dystopian, romantic, and Christian fiction. The plot is engaging and the characters are interesting. The Audible reader’s performance, however, leaves much to be desired. It comes across as wooden and emotionless. Very hard to listen to. I will most likely not listen to the rest of the series. I might order the paperbacks or see if they are on Kindle.
