Historia
In this, the 12th book in the famous Gor series, the fight for survival on the primitive, Earthlike world, Gor, continues with a ferocity that matches the rest of the series. On Gor, there are three different kinds of beings that are labeled beasts: There are the Kurii, a monster alien race that is preparing to invade Gor from space; the Gorean warriors, who fight with viciousness almost primitive in its blood lust' and then there are the slave girls of Gor, lowly beasts for men to do with as they see fit, be it as objects of labor or desire.

Great next chapter, excellent world building, but

Loved it. Enjoying hearing about the nuances of Gorean life, like the deeper dive into the "others". I feel the story of Earth girls brought to Gor has become repetitive. I could do one per book, even the deeper dives and more rounded out stories like Captive and Slavegirl were great from the female perspective. But (minor spoiler) when it becomes 4 girls in one book, it's excessive and ceases to be of interest. Still, great saga, great narration, looking forward to diving into the next one.

Beyond the edge of the galaxy lies the Unknown Regions: chaotic, uncharted, and near impassable, with hidden secrets and dangers in equal measure. And nestled within its swirling chaos is the Ascendancy, home to the enigmatic Chiss and the Nine Ruling Families that lead them. The peace of the Ascendancy, a beacon of calm and stability, is shattered after a daring attack on the Chiss capital that leaves no trace of the enemy.

Another awesome installment… but…

All of my usual comments about the style and story of this series hold true. But I had a little bit of trouble following the story jumping back and forth in this one. It was a little easier in some of the other Thrawn stories, but the past and present here were a little too similar to keep it straight at all times. Still, love this style and this story and I’m looking forward to the starting the next one.

Great story, great performance

I very much like the Thrawn story. He’s the Sherlock Holmes of the Empire’s navy. Also, very much appreciate the sound effects and production level that goes into making these audiobooks more akin to radio plays than someone reading a bedtime story. Star Wars or not, please produce more audiobooks in this style.

Awesome production! More like this please!

This is less of an audiobook and more of a modern radio play, complete with sound effects, background noise, and sound effects. I absolutely love this style. It’s a perfect middle ground between the sometimes boring monotone of an audiobook and the sensory overload of a TV show. I would love more stories to be done like this. Even without that, this is still an awesome story for those who love Star Wars and want to know more about the Sith in the years leading up to The Phantom Menace.

Historia
Golan Trevize, former councilman of the First Foundation, has chosen the future, and it is Gaia. A superorganism, Gaia is a holistic planet with a common consciousness so intensely united that every dewdrop, every pebble, every being, can speak for all - and feel for all. It is a realm in which privacy is not only undesirable, it is incomprehensible. But is it the right choice for the destiny of mankind? While Trevize feels it is, that is not enough. He must know.

Great end to a great story but...
Revisado: 03-21-17
I was disappointed that the narrator for the final book was not the same as the one for the previous books. While this narrator did okay, it did subtract from the experience. All the same though, a must read for Asimov fans.
