This is just terrible. I can't. Not even for free. The story is just stupid. I can't belive anyone would be interested in it. Most of the narrators are better but the one reading "Bolivia" is as bad as the story!

Hits The Spot

This book is just what I like. It isn't too literary as to make me feel like I am in class with a paper due soon. And it is not too fluffy either. I loved the references to fashion, art, and general fabulousness. And the setting in Paris.....how can one resist that! The cherry on top is the narrator, one of the best in the business. I just bought another book by Lian Dolan with Brittany Pressley narrating and can't wait to start listening!

Tedious and Boring

I have to disagree with the notion that you don’t have to love tennis to love this book. The title of this book should be "Tennis." I’m bored with it and really struggling to finish it. In fact, I think I will put it down and not finish it. The main character is not likable. I’m 80% through the book and I’m not invested in her at all. The narration isn’t the worst I’ve ever heard but she over-annunciates and speaks too slowly. The Latin accent often sounds like a caricature when she narrates the father. Many will find all of it very annoying.

I’ve left this comment on another book by the same author but I just have to say it again. This narrator is extremely gifted. The author is very good too. The two combined can’t be beat!

Wow, just wow.

This author is quickly becoming among my most elite favorites. Her writing is gripping, very, very good. But, I have to say I found her because of the narrator, Susan Bennet. Susan is without question the best narrator I have ever heard. Merryl Streep is just as good but only narrated one book, as far as I know, Heartburn. Check it out, it is awesome. But Susan Bennet has apparently done many and I just cannot overstate how amazing, how powerful her narration is. So... I started searching for books that feature her and discovered that she and Ms. Chamberlain are a bit of a team. The dream team! If you see one, or jackpot-both, don't hesitate!

Truly Excellent

Truly among the very best audiobooks ever. I love this book so much. In my opinion, it is spot at the intersection of actual literature and consumable fiction. The superb narration by Elizabeth McGovern manages to make it even better. I have a few minutes left and I am savoring each one, already sad to have finished it.

4.5 stars? What? No. I happen to be a card-carrying Texas Longhorn so the Austin setting and UT references were fun and I was familiar with all of the landmarks mentioned in the book. But that is the first and last good thing I can say about it. The story is just silly and the narration is monotone and awful. I struggled mightily to finish it.

I Don't Understand

I am a couple of hours into this book and I literally cannot take another minute. This is for the YA genre, not adults. The narrator's attempt at a teenager's voice is excruciating. I don't understand the glowing reviews. Returning now.

Love it!

I love Katie Couric. She IS perky AND she is a ballbuster, my hero. I was basically riveted to this all the way through. It was really interesting to hear about the details of Katie's skyrocket to the top but perhaps even more so to re-live all the stories she covered. O.J., Columbine, 9/11, Matt and more. It was almost like experiencing it all over again.
