I like psychological thrillers but find them hard to discuss at book groups. This has plenty of human behavior and perception questions to chew on.

Poor white trash girl is stuck in a cycle of abandoning loved ones whenever there is a bump in the road. Great character development. Author did a wonderful job of creating a homeless setting that is not the stereotypical street living. (Might be closer to reality for many)
Two tiny criticisms: the boyfriend who became a soap star and the tidy, happy ending seemed a little contrived.

This audiobook production of Buffalo Girls blends fact, fiction and legend. It is both rollicking fun and achingly sad. Calamity Jane is the star of this tale. She is joined by her contemporaries Bill Cody, Dora Dufran and others as they live through the last days of the Old West and the development of the Wild West mythology. This is as fine a love letter to the passing of the western way of life as Lonesome Dove

The collection of short stories was well curated, an excellent blend of humor and excitement. Modern readers will have little trouble with outdated terms, etc. Bronson Pinchot is my new favorite narrator, perfect pace, great voices.

This is a great little Christie mystery, however, some clues are visual, notes and codes, etc. They are not described

Vowell's other book "Lafayette in the Somewhat United States" was much better. The celebrity vignettes seem like a marketing gimmick to make the book appear more interesting. In short, this book was fine, well researched and written, but not hugely entertaining

I found myself laughing out loud during my daily walks while listening to this book. One does not need to be a history buff to enjoy the hilarity.

If you could sum up The House at Riverton in three words, what would they be?

Entertaining, mystery, romance

Any additional comments?

If you read Rebecca or Jane Eyre and loved them, then you will enjoy this story. The setting will remind readers of the BBC hit Downton Abby. The story line starts in current times and flashes back the early 1900's but smooth writing and a good narrator never leave you confused.
