Historia
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

Complex, fast paced, fun
Revisado: 04-19-25
It’s a now well known universe and still I’m even more invested
Difficult to follow with all the characters, rules, agendas and backstories so I had listen twice and jump back when something really complicated was thrown at me as a side note - but I enjoyed it a lot, both times, and I think I’m going to run it a third time. Thank you for this crazy adventure 🎉

Peter F. Hamilton & John Lee at their finest. Thank you both for this hard science adventure. I really enjoyed this book, and Mr. Hammilton is back in the game.
There are so many great concepts and ideas packed into this story. I had to listen twice, which I've never done before. Just amazing.

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

With this book the stories of the bobiverse are back on track. I also enjoyed Heavens River, but it was a side step in Dennis Taylors Universe.
I recommend this book for any sci fi fan and software engineers :)

Historia
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

The female characters are stale
Revisado: 01-10-24
It is woke intersectional feminism that causes Craig to include those horrible female characters.
Sims was a good female character but she has been removed because, well, you can’t have a good female character anymore.
Craig was mostly idling in this book but still it has its moments of great humor which is my main reason to stick around. At this point I’m in it for scarandom and kitty fun, and of course Joe and Skippy dialogue. The book had a great moment with a Bosphuraq scientist who seemed preoccupied with his ex wife, which really added to my mental image of the bird-brains - that was great fun. But there also were long paragraphs without much going on and I found that I zoned out more than I used to. So overall not a compelling but I’m going to remain until the bitter end:)

Stale female characters
Revisado: 12-30-23
While the male characters develop and have story and character arcs the ladies are Mary Sues.
It’s a filler episode and with remarkable low degree of humor.
The best scene is when the cat drives a truck while listening to rock and roll.
We know Craig can do much better. This feels like a lazy money grab

Historia
The enemy unknowingly opened a portal to the Netherworld, and our world’s only wizard somehow managed to close it. Unfortunately, something got through. Something big. A dragon. Now Kaz Wolfe, with help from his dog Duke who is channeling the spirit of a wizard from ancient Babylon, and with no help from Azib the Cowardly Genie, must find the dragon before someone gets a cellphone video of the thing, and the world learns that magic is real. Or, you know, before the dragon eats someone.

Craig’s pandering is getting in the way
Revisado: 06-18-23
Craig Alanson is a great storyteller and he has absolutely an amazing humor and a lot of great ideas and angles. He knows how to write guys - not girls - not at all. Guys mess up, make mistakes and stumble - and learn, evolve, grow, develop - and in so doing, become fully developed characters. Thanks for that. The girls are Mary Sues. They don’t develop. We are told that they change but that is just Craig lying. Craig wants to be popular with the young and naive, so he thinks pandering to feminists, by giving girls the killer action sequences and scenes will earn him some points with that audience. I seriously doubt that they even consider reading his books, but I don’t have insight into that. What I do know is that having stale characters in the story is a problem for me. I’m a paying customer so my advice is for Craig to at least consider this problem. Ellen Ripley is one of sci-fi’s greatest characters because she was a human female who was in no way perfect - but she was believable and you rooted for her. Do yourself a favor, Craig, and rethink your pandering, and give us some believable female characters along side the male characters

Historia
Idris Telemmier has uncovered a secret that changes everything – the Architects’ greatest weakness. A shadowy Cartel scrambles to turn his discovery into a weapon against these alien destroyers of worlds. But between them and victory stands self-interest. The galaxy’s great powers would rather pursue their own agendas than stand together against this shared terror. Human and inhuman interests wrestle to control Idris’ discovery, as the galaxy erupts into a mutually destructive and self-defeating war.

Brilliant
Revisado: 05-18-23
The story and performance is great. I do not like Tchaikovsky’s identity politics but it doesn’t matter because characters, world and story is splendid. Only women can do great things. Men are fragile and needs a strong woman by their side to be able to maintain organ function. If you are okay with this kind of political word view then you can enjoy a great story - I did, and I recommend it. Don’t stay in your bobble :-)

Historia
Idris has neither aged nor slept since they remade his mind in the war. And one of humanity’s heroes now scrapes by on a freelance salvage vessel, to avoid the attention of greater powers. Eighty years ago, Earth was destroyed by an alien enemy. Many escaped, but millions more died. So mankind created enhanced humans such as Idris - who could communicate mind-to-mind with our aggressors. Then these ‘Architects’ simply disappeared, and Idris and his kind became obsolete.

Historia
For years, the ancient alien AI known as Skippy (the Magnificent, don’t forget that part) has been able to do one impossible thing after another. What is his secret? It’s simple: 100 percent Grade-A extreme awesomeness. And also because he had never been faced with an opponent of equal power. Until now. This time, he might need a little help from a band of filthy monkeys.

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-14-21
What a terrible endgame. The series was great to begin with, but fell flat on the back during the last couple of books.
The authors became more concerned with identity politics than storytelling.
