A great story. It kept me until the end. I guess it goes along with the thought that there are a lot of secret things that are being done & some people pay a high price

Historia
To all appearances, Dan Chase is a harmless retiree in Vermont with two big mutts and a grown daughter he keeps in touch with by phone. But most 60-year-old widowers don't have multiple driver's licenses, savings stockpiled in banks across the country, and a bugout kit with two Beretta Nanos stashed in the spare bedroom closet. Most have not spent decades on the run.

A wonderful listen
Revisado: 07-07-17
At times the book dragged along & I wondered if it was worth listening to. But suddenly it would be action packed & would rivet my attention. I decided the author was talking time to develop the new character he was introducing or further develop one he had already written about. The action periods were great & spell binding.

I did enjoy listening to the book but it could have used some serious editing.. I have enjoyed stories involving the Grey Man before & I'll listen to the next one. But this one was far too long.

I liked the way Connelly developed the characters in such a believable way. The book grew on me more and more as I listened to it. I thought the reader did an excellent job, using just the right tone of voice and making me feel like an observer to the events as they unfolded.

Historia
On the right side of the law. Sort of. Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer. He works out of a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, fine leather chairs, a hidden gun compartment, and a heavily armed driver. He has no firm, no partners, no associates, and only one employee: his driver, who's also his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and golf caddy.

Historia
John Hart creates a literary thriller that is as suspenseful as it is poignant, a riveting murder mystery layered beneath the southern drawl of a humble North Carolina lawyer. When Work Pickens finds his father murdered, the investigation pushes a repressed family history to the surface and he sees his own carefully constructed facade begin to crack.

I had not been aware of John Hart before, but after listening to this book, I have a new favorite author. In the first part of the book the main character is so obnoxious I almost didn't go on. Am I ever glad I did. The author's development of the main character - and others is amazing. I didn't want to stop listening.

Baldacci has been better
Revisado: 12-10-13
What did you like best about King and Maxwell? What did you like least?
The story was pretty far fetched, but somewhat engaging.
Would you recommend King and Maxwell to your friends? Why or why not?
I thought the way the main characters, King and Maxwell, were portrayed was pretty lame. King was made to be pretty much a whiner. Maxwell was a little better, but not much
Would you listen to another book narrated by Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ?
The narration was o.k., but there characters were fairly limited
Was King and Maxwell worth the listening time?
It was so so. I probably won't listen to it again, while I listen to other books more than once
Any additional comments?
If you want to purchase this book, in my estimation, it only rates 3 stars. There are many books that rate 4 and some 5 stars.

Worst book I've purchased from Audio.
Revisado: 06-26-12
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I'm angry that I spent anything to purchase this book. The author displays an extremely limited vocabulary. He doesn't seem to know many words beyond "f--k." It is repeated beyond belief. After hearing it repeated over and over and over, I finally just gave up and wrote it off as a terrible purchase. I would guess the author would have cut the length of his book in half if he'd left out this word he seems to love. Perhaps his mother washed his mouth out with soap when he used it as a child, so he has to use it now to make up for lost time!
