Historia
Shocking and controversial when it was first published in 1939, Steinbeck's Pulitzer prize-winning epic The Grapes of Wrath remains his undisputed masterpiece. Set against the background of Dust Bowl Oklahoma and Californian migrant life, it tells of Tom Joad and his family, who, like thousands of others, are forced to travel west in search of the promised land. Their story is one of false hopes, thwarted desires, and broken dreams, yet out of their suffering Steinbeck created a drama that is intensely human, yet majestic in its scale and moral vision.

Steinbeck at his best
Revisado: 11-22-19
Very well performed which unfortunately can’t be separated from the novel even if the novel is remarkable if it’s poorly performed-well this is audible - too the novel which depicts very accurately the poverty and humiliation American farmers and folks of the land suffered.

Homeland: Saul’s Game is riveting but
Revisado: 09-21-19
I’m afraid I didn’t enjoy the narrator. I’m an avid Audible listener and have listened to so many in the past year with narrations superior to Ms. Penelope Rawlins. I may be a minority in this view but beauty is the eye of the beholder. One example of her work I found very lacking was her voicing of male characters...

Another great Mosley book about Socrates Fortolow
Revisado: 09-11-19
Socrates is the distillation of all the best and worst of what America has done to black men and women. Although he self confesses that he’s been a murderer he haunted by the evil acts and sees himself as evil all the while struggling to be heard and seen as a man who in the end wants to redeem himself but refuses to debase himself-yet his heroic acts towards his dying friend as it was towards the black dog brings him closer to trouble and even jail.

Dubbed "the American Tolkien" by Time magazine, number-one New York Times best-selling author George R. R. Martin is a giant in the field of fantasy literature and one of the most exciting storytellers of our time. Now he delivers a rare treat for listeners: a compendium of his shorter works, collected into two stunning volumes, that offers fascinating insight into his journey from young writer to award-winning master.

Wonderful and unexpected collection
Revisado: 08-02-19
This was a very fascinating book narration by George RR Martin giving us a rare insight into his life as a writer and individual as he prepares us for the collection of stories. Some of those stories are from his previous works, novelas and others he chose to be in this book.
Some of the stories I plan to read again as they were complicated in their plots and outcomes and other simply left you pondering for days! An excellent read.

Historia
When struggling riverboat captain Abner Marsh receives an offer of partnership from a wealthy aristocrat, he suspects something’s amiss. But when he meets the hauntingly pale, steely-eyed Joshua York, he is certain. For York doesn’t care that the icy winter of 1857 has wiped out all but one of Marsh’s dilapidated fleet. Nor does he care that he won’t earn back his investment in a decade. York has his own reasons for wanting to traverse the powerful Mississippi. And they are to be none of Marsh’s concern - no matter how bizarre, arbitrary, or capricious his actions may prove.

Incredible book with suspense and intrigue
Revisado: 07-17-19
Martin writes a very different book then Game of Thrones. This book from the beginning holds us in suspense beautifully crafted and narrated it weaves in the life of river boats their captains crew, slavery and vampires. It obviously takes place in the 1850’s along the Mississippi River and entwines the life of a scruffy rough river boat captain Abner Marsh and his new partner Joshua York the sophisticated vampire.

A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.
