So good. I just keep listening over and over
Revisado: 01-16-22
I love this book. My only wish is that they would have added a musical bumper at the end of each exercises before they jump back into reading the book. As is, it’s a little jarring.
I’m also glad Dick didn’t read the whole book. His voice is much better as the Therapist role.

Too bad John didn't read the whole book
Revisado: 04-09-16
Burt sounded like he cried at the end of every chapter and constantly let his voice drop to low while reading. His voice did however lend creditably to his opinions expressed. I wish he would have read the preface and let his buddy Jon Voight read the book.

Historia
In his best-selling book Falling Upward, Richard Rohr talked about ego (or the False Self) and how it gets in the way of spiritual maturity. But if there's a False Self, is there also a True Self? What is it? How is it found? Why does it matter? And what does it have to do with the spiritual journey? This book likens True Self to a diamond, buried deep within us, formed under the intense pressure of our lives, that must be searched for, uncovered, separated from all the debris of ego that surrounds it.

Fr Rohr's Best Work
Revisado: 06-25-15
I would rather have hear Fr Rohr's as the narrator but still was very impressed with this book. Very sobering and hard to take and implement in my life but at the same time it rings so true to me that I know I have to buckle down and try.

I Highly Recommend This Book!
Revisado: 04-15-15
Wow There was so much covered in this book and in such a clear fashion. I listened to the whole book while walking the beach or while just looking at the Pacific Ocean. And I can't believe how much this book has changed the way feel about the Ocean. It cracked open my Blue Mind and I can't wait to listen to it again. Very well written and researched! It's also the very first book that I've ever listened to where the author reads The acknowledgments at the end of the book - very nice touch. It showed the sincerity of the author.

If you meditate or want to, you should read this!
Revisado: 08-04-14
Kelly McGonigal's writing style is so strongly feminine that I can hear her right over the narrator. I guess that is the definition of a great narrator, when you don't hear their voice but that of the author! Such a fantastic book that I have listened to it over and over again. The lessons are so helpful in building will power. I listened to it all the way through and then went back worked on the chapters and the lessons that really spoke to me. I found that the tools let me just flip a switch on my attitude towards situations that used to upset me so. Surfing the Urge is my favorite tool the Author shares in the book.

Historia
Before Gabrielle Hamilton opened her acclaimed New York restaurant Prune, she spent 20 fierce, hard-living years trying to find purpose and meaning in her life. Above all she sought family, particularly the thrill and the magnificence of the one from her childhood that, in her adult years, eluded her. Hamilton’s ease and comfort in a kitchen were instilled in her at an early age when her parents hosted grand parties, often for more than 100 friends and neighbors. The smells of spit-roasted lamb, apple wood smoke, and rosemary garlic marinade became necessary to her.

Not the best written but so interesting
Revisado: 08-08-12
Over time I have become a Bethanny fan. I love her quick wit. Even if she has the humor of a 13 year old boy, I still kind of like her. But the best part of this book is how she inspires you to go out and make things happen in your own life. I came away thinking "if this airhead can do it, then so can I". Which is exactly what she wants the reader to take away from her book. So, in true NYC style, she throws herself under the bus to get her point across loud and clear.

Interesting but she lost me at...
Revisado: 08-08-12
Spoiler alert:
Good until she started talking about bending spoons.Guess I am not a Wayfinder or whatever she calls herself. I also don't like how she talks down to her readers when she admits to her daughter that her books are just one big extended mediphor and "Well people seem to like it and buy my books".
I did like her term, the every when, that is a cool term/concept.
