Historia
In Ashtown, a rough-and-tumble desert community, the Emperor rules with poisoned claws and an iron fist. He can’t show any sign of weakness, as the neighboring Wiley City has spent lifetimes beating down the people of Ashtown and would love nothing more than its downfall. There’s only one person in the desert the Emperor can fully trust—and her name is Scales. Scales is the best at what she does: keeping everyone and everything in line. As a skilled mechanic—and an even more skilled fighter, when she needs to be—Scales is a respected member of the Emperor’s crew.

So glad she wrote the second book
Revisado: 07-10-24
As with her previous book, it's a great story well performed. It was a different performer than the first, but she was fantastic as well.
I enjoyed getting to know new characters as well as reconnect with the characters from The Space Between Worlds.

Historia
Multiverse travel is finally possible, but there’s just one catch: No one can visit a world where their counterpart is still alive. Enter Cara, whose parallel selves happen to be exceptionally good at dying—from disease, turf wars, or vendettas they couldn’t outrun. Cara’s life has been cut short on 372 worlds in total. On this dystopian Earth, however, Cara has survived. Identified as an outlier and therefore a perfect candidate for multiverse travel, Cara is plucked from the dirt of the wastelands.

Fantastic book, great story well told

This was a fantastic book. Awesome and engaging story, with excellent narration. Her world building and technology are well thought through but none or it gets in the way of the story. Her futuristic world is still full of pain, abuse, prejudice and violence. But thankfully love and kindness inhabit this world as well.

Historia
Cassie Andrews works in a New York City bookshop, shelving books, making coffee for customers, and living an unassuming, ordinary life. Until the day one of her favorite customers—a lonely yet charming old man—dies right in front of her. Cassie is devastated. She always loved his stories, and now she has nothing to remember him by. Nothing but the last book he was reading. But this is no ordinary book… It is the Book of Doors. Inscribed with enigmatic words and mysterious drawings, it promises Cassie that any door is every door. You just need to know how to open them.

Very engaging! Hope for more

Really enjoyed this book. It's no Alice in Wonderland even as Cassie falls down her own rabbit hole of adventures. It does include some disturbing scenes, which sounded oddly incongruous with the narrators melodic delivery. Clearly left things open for a second book, and that's fine by me.
