Historia
In the last years of the dying Qing Empire, a courtesan is found frozen in a doorway. Her death is clouded by rumors of foxes, which are believed to lure people by transforming themselves into beautiful women and handsome men. Bao, a detective with an uncanny ability to sniff out the truth, is hired to uncover the dead woman’s identity. Since childhood, Bao has been intrigued by the fox gods, yet they’ve remained tantalizingly out of reach—until, perhaps, now.

Finally, From a Fox's Perspective!
Revisado: 03-17-25
Wonderful read! Having read many books with the mention or accusation of women being persecuted as foxes, it was very lovely to read the story of an actual fox! ;)

Historia
1800s China. Tightly bound feet, or "golden lilies," are the mark of an honorable woman, eclipsing beauty, a rich dowry and even bloodline in the marriage stakes. When Little Flower is sold as a maidservant—a muizai—to Linjing, a daughter of the prominent Fong family, she clings to the hope that one day her golden lilies will lead her out of slavery. Not only does Little Flower have bound feet, uncommon for a muizai, but she is extraordinarily gifted at embroidery, a skill associated with the highest class of a lady.

One of My Favorite Books of All Time!
Revisado: 12-21-24
As the title says, this is a new personal favorite of mine! The characters stories are told in such a personal and engaging way. The Author does an amazing job narrating her book! She gave each character personality. She made me laugh while also making me feel feel irritated at some characters and sadness for others. 10/10. Wish I could forget this book to be able to read it again anew.

Good, but a slow book I could easily put down.
Revisado: 11-06-20
Informative on the not well known life of Katherine Parr. While this was a good book it was not engaging. Not sure if that's the author's fault or just how the Tudor court was at the end of the old King Henry's rule.

Historia
Emmeline lives on a remote island with her father, who teaches her about the natural world through her senses. What he won’t explain are the mysterious scents stored in glass bottles that line the walls of their cabin, or the origin of the machine that creates them. As Emmeline grows, however, so too does her curiosity, until one day the unforeseen happens, and Emmeline is vaulted out into the real world—a place of love, betrayal, ambition, and revenge. To understand her past, Emmeline must unlock the clues to her identity.

At times hard to follow which character's story was being told, otherwise it was a wonderful book.
