Not my style
Revisado: 05-21-19
I usually love stories that these two narrators read, which is why I tried to finish this book. However, I found that I was not eager to continue the story after each time I had to stop throughout my day.
I find that romances based heavily on undeniable, irresistible, and overpowering chemistry annoying, because the plot compensates by using dark drama as the only device to keep the couple apart. Since their chemistry demands they be together, they must find endless reasons not to be together, rather than couple that like each other and get to know each other and try to be together.
Finally, the over the top poetic descriptions over absolutely everything was getting on my nerves. I would listen to a scene and get lost on what was happening because of how long the flowery similes were, also making the book 2-3x longer than it really needed to be for actual dialog and plot content.
I didn't finish the book because it felt like a chore. Needless to say, I will not be listening to any others in the series, or by this author.

Historia
Two forms of power - natural and chemical - divide the world. Dragons, who keep the chemical power in check, have long retreated from human sight; few still believe in them. Inside a castle surrounded by Tuscan hills more and more threatened by chemical forces, 16-year-old Anders lives a sheltered life. But much as his parents try, Anders can't avoid the forces that threaten....

Terrible!
Revisado: 05-19-19
The main character is a snotty teen aged loser who is completely incompetent and useless, except for the fact that an amazing power has chosen him and 'SINGS' through his blood, doing miraculous things with ease that others have worked long and hard to be able to harness. He reminded me of a spoiled rich kid who gets everything without having to work for it and wants credit for doing what came easy. Too many words were repeated with annoying frequency. Please use a thesaurus.

Cringe Worthy at times
Revisado: 05-19-19
The narrator made an already sub-par book even worse. Stilted reading with minimal tone changes between characters and emotions. The story also was similar to Twilight in its level of drama and plot holes.

Historia
After almost a century of peaceful exploration and colonization of space, the United Earth Space Force stumbles across a shockingly xenophobic alien race that has more and better armed ships and refuses all attempts at contact. As the outgunned Space Force is driven back in battle after battle in what appears to be a war of extermination, one officer experiences precognitive visions that help him blunt the enemy onslaught, but he can't control or predict when they occur.

Highly Technical but Highly Enjoyable
Revisado: 05-19-19
Some people may be turned off by the highly technical battle descriptions and find them dull and droning, but I was surprised at how easily I learned to decipher them and see the battles in my head. The narrator voiced a wide range of characters, creating unique voices for many, so that the characters were easy to differentiate during intense dialog scenes. I fell in love with so many characters in this book that I had to buy the whole series in order to find out what happened to them. Warning: there is quite a lot of time travel and resetting of time in these books that might not appeal to every one. I know I usually have little patience for time travel and paradoxes, but this story really made it work.

Highly Enjoyable Coming of Age story
Revisado: 05-19-19
This book offers an extremely diverse cast of characters and experiences. The different personalities and paths each chooses are fascinating. When everything crashes due to problems that many people could identify with, the emotional ups and downs that the story and narrators take you on will leave you crying out of sadness and happiness.

Historia
Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases - a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with as well as way less experience in the dating department than the average 30-year-old. It doesn't help that she has Asperger's and that French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. She decides that she needs lots of practice - with a professional - which is why she hires escort Michael Phan.

Breathtaking and heart wrenching
Revisado: 06-12-18
This entire story was wonderfully written and narrated, but I had to take a two week break near the end before having enough nerve to be able to come back and finish it. I'm grateful that the experiences of this man were documented and told so that more may know of his awe inspiring exploits.

Stunning performance to a phenomenal book!
Revisado: 04-20-18
This book was so beautifully written and narrated that I found myself crying of sadness, happiness, relief, and frustration at so many points throughout the book. The narrator honorably performed the large range of nationalities with highly accurate accents.

Narrator ruined the book.
Revisado: 04-18-18
This narrator had some fun sound effect trucks that I hadn't in any previous books, but that didn't make up for lack of tone changes for characters, the the overly enthusiastic inflection while reading what should have been serious scenes, and making each character seem like they only had two emotions. This book would have been better if I read it myself, but the content of the story is still lukewarm. Nothing like The Martian or Synchronicity War.
