Historia
In Boyfriend Material, Luc and Oliver met, pretended to fall in love, fell in love for real, dealt with heartbreak and disappointment and family and friends...and somehow figured out a way to make it work. Now it seems like everyone around them is getting married, and Luc's feeling the social pressure to propose. But it'll take more than four weddings, a funeral, and a bowl full of special curry to get these two from "I don't know what I'm doing" to "I do". Good thing Oliver is such perfect Husband Material.

Emotional maturity of a gnat
Revisado: 10-03-24
The characters are still not emotionally mature enough for a big boy relationship. Much like the first book in the series the characters can be entertaining but are also often annoying. Their on again off again relationship and the will they won’t they was very trying up until the end. The performance was stellar but the book was only meh.

Historia
Luc O'Donnell is tangentially - and reluctantly - famous. His rock-star parents split when he was young, and the father he's never met spent the next 20 years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad's making a comeback, Luc's back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything. To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He's a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and someone who has never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. He’s perfect boyfriend material.

Enjoyable listen with annoying twists
Revisado: 09-21-24
Liked the storyline but too many frustrating twists. Characters sometimes came across as whiny and annoyingly immature for their age. That said I enjoyed the story enough that I will read the sequel.

Why so many good reviews?
Revisado: 09-30-21
This was probably one of my least favorite King books. I am and have always been a huge fan. Usually I start one and can’t wait until my next read or listen. The characters weren’t that likable, and I never found myself vested in the story. This won’t stop me from trying Stephen King books, but I really had hoped this would be better.

Storyline was just ok - while it was a fun concept, it was difficult for me to stay focused on this one.

It also promises to reveal a terrible secret - the identity of Jack the Ripper.

Intriguing but a little slow
Revisado: 01-26-18
The concept of the story is great but it was a little slow and a little boring at times. I much preferred the Medusa Amulet and the Romanov Cross to this one. I really enjoy Masello’s work but this wasn’t one of my favorites.

Good but not the best from Dan Brown
Revisado: 01-10-18
An enjoyable tale, though not as thrilling as others in the Robert Langdon series. If you liked the others you will be satisfied with Origin, but I found the ending to be less fulfilling. It was still a fun story laced with Artificial intelligence and “Winston” made me think of Alexa and Siri a bit differently. Thought provoking, but not completely convincing, this is worth a read or listen if you are a Dan Brown fan.

Historia
St. Louis in 1880 is full of ghosts - mangled soldiers, tortured slaves, the innocent victims of war - and Jacob Tracy can see them all. Ever since Antietam, when he lay delirious among the dead and dying, Trace has been haunted by the country's restless spirits. The curse cost him his family, his calling to the church, and damn near his sanity. He stays out of ghost-populated cities as much as possible these days, guiding wagon trains west with his pragmatic and skeptical partner, Boz.

Missing Something...
Revisado: 11-17-17
I had a difficult time really immersing myself in this one. There were a lot of extraneous characters coming in and out in what felt like short stories. The plot seemed to get lost in a series of sub-plots and that proved to be a little confusing at times. I'm not sure if this would have been easier to read as opposed to listen, but I kept wanting to go back and figure out who this new character is and how they happened into the story. This is the kind of book I love but this one just didn't do it for me.

Painful narration
Revisado: 11-07-17
I couldn’t even finish it. I really wish I had listened to a sample before purchasing. Thank you audible return program! I was excited to get this one but was truly disappointed in the sound quality and the monotone nature of the narration. I’m hopeful that some day someone else will do a better version of the story.

Interesting subject!
Revisado: 05-24-16
This was a good story but a little long. Some of the details could have been held back and had the same effect. Characters were well developed though there were a few that could have had more. I still felt at the end that I didn't really know who all of them were. The narrator did a great job though again some of the voices were less clear and I often felt a little confused about who was speaking. The ending was a little soft but that could be how future books will come about - overall an interesting story that held my attention.
