Historia
It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl’s pretty yellow dress can’t quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. Her latest customer, a bearded stranger, drains his cup and heads to his car, his mind on a boat he's restoring at a nearby lake. The stranger understands more about the scar than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives.

Our love story is simple. I met a gorgeous woman. We fell in love. We had kids. We moved to the suburbs. We told each other our biggest dreams and our darkest secrets. And then we got bored. We look like a normal couple. We're your neighbors, the parents of your kid's friend, the acquaintances with whom you keep meaning to get dinner. We all have our secrets to keeping a marriage alive. Ours just happens to be getting away with murder.

Wow, I enjoyed this story
Revisado: 09-17-19
The story/plot was fun for a suspense genre. It also had me giggling at some of the absurd thoughts the main character would say to rationalize his thoughts and actions. Kind of reminded of the book “Her”. It was hard to stop listening because I just wanted to see what the character would think, say or do. It’s worth a credit. The narrator was very good in his role and the other minor male characters in the story. That said, I didn’t like the voice he used for the son or the females but they aren’t major characters so it didn’t annoy me enough to stop listening. It would be fun to see this story made into a film. Hope this review will help you decide whether to use a credit or not.

Historia
It's 1969 and Palm Springs socialite Maxine Simmons is planning a Thanksgiving feast to rival Nixon's stealthy maneuvers in the White House and Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon. With a catered menu to die for and a dining room that looks like it's been ripped from the glossy pages of a magazine, her entrance to high society is all but assured. Then comes the humiliation of being dumped by her husband of 17 years. Banished to Arizona, the disgraced Maxine languishes in exile. But then she suddenly gets an idea of how she can win it all back.

I really enjoyed this audio book. It took me a bit to enjoy the voices but they were all exactly right once I got into to characters. This book was well written and didn’t get lost with a bunch of unnecessary or pointless details. Well worth a credit.

Frustrating
Revisado: 07-22-18
Not a bad story but I felt so annoyed hearing over and over the insecurities of Hannah. The reader added to that frustration with using a whining and self-deserving voice for Hannah, I just felt very frustrated listening to this book but it may be a good story for those who can tolerate the constant negative insecurities voiced by Hannah. It was too much for me.

Good story with really good narration. Enjoyed how well the author was able to paint a very true to life experience of vets and their challenges with life after serving their duty. I will follow this author and hope for more stores to come.

Best story in a long time!!!
Revisado: 12-10-17
OMG!! This was the best story I have listed to in a long time! This is a new author for me and I am hoping she has written more book's. The narration was simply wonderful. Most female narrators don't do the best when switching to a male voice but this one did. I recommend this book. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Awesome
Revisado: 11-11-16
I've never met a gang member. I live in Minneapolis, rent a bungalow, have a job, and though age 53 continue to live check to check. My faith is small but the tiny bit I have was touched by G's stories. He mentions a part that some gang members live waiting to die. This is the best statement to describe me. I'm not depressed. I'm just not impressed with living. Even after going through chemo and radiation to treat cancer - done solely for the benefit of my 2 adult children - I wished to pass this life to enter what I hope is relief from living. After listening to these stories, I know now this dread of living may not be as abnormal or unusual as I believed. There is some twisted comfort in that. Perhaps the kinship G speaks of in the last chapter. This book will stay on my open list of books so that the love I felt in G's voice can continue to work in my life, my heart, and that tiny bit of faith I do have. To all the boys and men served by this ministry I will carry you all in my thoughts each day. I feel your hopelessness but maybe we can carry that together and with a tiny faith we find hope. Bless all the mothers of homeboys. The pain and heartbreak is surely overwhelming. As a mother of a hard core meth addict who finally after 15 years has strung together 3 years recovery, I have seen a miracle and pray all the mothers will too. Thank you G for touching my listless heart. Amy

Long and boring
Revisado: 07-01-16
I like historical fiction and in terms of attempting to understanding living during WW1 it was ok. But it was so long and repetitive at times. The performance was ok thankfully. I don't think it was worth using a credit for. Amy in Minnesota
