Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

Very understandable
Revisado: 01-18-24
If you’ve ever listened to Attia’s podcast, it often gets very technical and is out of reach to many potential listeners. Not so here. Attia has taken most of his health podcast information, summarized and made it understandable. Lots of great practical tips in here that I will implement, especially on zone 2 training and stability.

Historia
Ben Barres was known for his groundbreaking scientific work and for his groundbreaking advocacy for gender equality in science. In this book, completed shortly before his death, Barres (born Barbara Barres in 1954) describes a life full of remarkable accomplishments. Barres recounts his early life and felt even as a very young child that he was assigned the wrong gender. After years of being acutely uncomfortable in his own skin, Barres transitioned from female to male. It was after transitioning that he realized how differently male and female scientists are treated.

Not worthless, but better read than listened to

Narrator is hard to listen to
Revisado: 04-07-23
The narrator for the audiobook sounds AI generated and unnatural. I feel like I’m listening to that voice on a corporate phone tree saying “press 1 if you know your account number.” I have listened to dozens of audiobooks, and this is one of the hardest to listen to. The content is great, so I kept going.
