Historia
Nothing is harder to do these days than nothing. But in a world where our value is determined by our 24/7 data productivity...doing nothing may be our most important form of resistance. So argues artist and critic Jenny Odell in this field guide to doing nothing (at least as capitalism defines it). Our attention is the most precious - and overdrawn - resource we have. Once we can start paying a new kind of attention, we can undertake bolder forms of political action, reimagine humankind's role in the environment, and find more meaningful understandings of happiness and progress.

OK, got it...but 8 hours long. Seriously?
Revisado: 04-01-25
Great premise for a college essay...could have been communicated in way less that 8 hours...like maybe 2 hours...and that's not because I'm too busy to listen. I just find the topic story approach to be tedious, which is exacerbated by the absolutely comatose narration! Here's a way to do nothing: Don't Listen to this book!!!

Historia
As the climate veers toward catastrophe, the innumerable losses cascading through the biosphere make vividly evident the need for a metamorphosis in our relation to the living land. For too long we've inured ourselves to the wild intelligence of our muscled flesh, taking our primary truths from technologies that hold the living world at a distance. This audiobook subverts that distance, drawing listeners ever deeper into their animal senses in order to explore, from within, the elemental kinship between the body and the breathing Earth.

LOVE! Good Boys, The Lost Tribe
Revisado: 03-17-25
Exceptionally conceived, developed, and soulfully written like only a true dog-person could have done...and performed with heart, humor and enthusiasm resulting in an unpawsable (Ha! is that even a word?) edge of your seat and dogbed sci-fi adventure thriller! Sit - Stay - Listen! You will not be disappointed. Thanks Jeremy!

Historia
In the heart of the South Pacific lies Point Nemo, the most desolate and remote place on Earth. At its core is a dead zone, devoid of life, where government agencies crash their obsolete satellites and space stations, confident they won't harm a soul. When the International Space Station suffers a catastrophic failure and plummets through the atmosphere, it's here that Mission Specialist Julie Rohr, an astrobiologist studying living space dust called xylem, finds herself marooned. Julie's only hope for rescue lies in the hands of her estranged father, Dr. Finn Maddern, a renowned mycologist.

Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Soap Opera with Lava, made even worse by over-acting narrator
Revisado: 06-23-24
Predictable "blockbuster" plot that tries too hard on just about every level. And it's really too bad they selected this narrator...it's so annoyingly overacted, I tried to enjoy the story, but all I could think about was how much he must love the sound of his own voice...I typically don't even bother listening to any book narrated by this narrator, but thought, "Hey, it's a Michael Chrichton novel, it's gotta be decent; and James Patterson too - Wow! Should be great, right?." Boy was I wrong - Very forgettable!

Revisado: 02-13-22
Such a powerful, important, and poignant series... hopefully it inspires REAL action and change in the horror or human trafficking; but somehow I think that this aspect of the human (inhumane) wolf-like psyche is unchangeable.
Perhaps and hopefully there will be a trilogy of "movies" that can shift awareness and resources in that direction, given the visceral power of that medium and the ever-shortening attention span of the general sheep-like populace...thank you for being one of the sheepdogs!!!

Historia
As he searches for a mysteriously vanished girlfriend, Haruki Murakami's protagonist plunges into a wind tunnel of sexual violence and metaphysical dread in which he collides with call girls, plays chaperone to a lovely teenaged psychic, and receives cryptic instructions from a shabby but oracular Sheep Man. Dance Dance Dance is a tense, poignant, and often hilarious ride through the cultural Cuisinart that is contemporary Japan, a place where everything that is not up for sale is up for grabs.

Pointless plot - Self-indulgent author
Revisado: 07-21-21
No wonder this title is "included" ... it's dated and idiotic; and there's zero insight into anything! I think the self-indulgent author must have been laughing all the way to the bank; upon realizing that crap sells!
I "got out" of this rut of a story after wasting 4 hours of my life; luckily whilst commuting to/from work - honestly, staring at brake lights in front of me was more fulfilling!
