Historia
After the War of the Gods, the demons were cast out and fell to the world. Mankind was nearly eradicated by the seemingly unstoppable beasts until the gods sent the great hero, Ramrowan, to save them. He united the tribes, gave them magic, and drove the demons into the sea. Ever since, the land has belonged to man, and the oceans have remained an uncrossable hell, leaving the continent of Lok isolated.

Fans of the Monster Hunter series will be disappointed. I couldn't listen to it and ended up returning it for a refund. Thank you Audible for the Great Listen program!

Hawk and Fisher, famous for their years of keeping the peace in Haven, are really quite happy being legends. They gave up the hero business when they decided they'd grown too old for it. Cotton Candy spiked with razor blades
Revisado: 05-09-14
Not my cup of tea. Didn't finish it. Lost interest about halfway through after one too many discordant notes. You're muddling through, mostly inadvertently tallying the count as one more 'borrowed' story item/theme/scene appears and then WTF?! as the cartoonish plot point registers and you realize that it's actually some seriously screwed up stuff. The characters are unsurprisingly 2 dimensional. It would probably make a great movie for horror fans with the right treatment.

Unrelenting trauma followed by a Disney ending
Revisado: 11-20-12
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
You'll need to enjoy unrelenting trauma unbroken by any moments of calm in which to catch your breath.
Has The Horse Dancer turned you off from other books in this genre?
If this genre is "drama", then yes. If this genre is "horse stories", then it's has increased my wariness which was already pretty elevated.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrator did a good job with accents.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Horse Dancer?
This is best read in print so that you can skim through approximately 80% of the book. It only became interesting in the last 5 hours, and that should have been abridged as well.
Any additional comments?
I've teetered towards buying this book for the last year and was swayed by the positive reviews. I really should have trusted my instincts. But I really hoped it was going to be one of those books that you are leery of and which after reading you wish that you'd read it sooner. It wasn't.

Historia
Cutting a deal with a trickster god rarely goes well for any human brave or foolish enough to try it, but Atticus doesn’t feel like he has a choice. With members of the Norse pantheon out for his blood, he can’t train his apprentice in peace, so he asks Coyote to help him fake his own death. The cost, however, might wind up being every bit as high as if he’d made no deal at all.

Excellent expansion of the Iron Druid Chronicles
Revisado: 04-26-12
Would you listen to Tricked again? Why?
Absolutely! Each time something new a joke, a literary or mythological reference pops out and increases the enjoyment.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Tricked?
It's hard to pick just one, but the betrayal sticks out in my mind as it creates a new arc in the story...it's completely unexpected yet how Atticus handles the situation educates the reader on how he has survived this long.
What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
The voices, the intonation, the pacing of the story is unique and so much better than when I read it in print. This maybe because only this one have I also read the print edition. After reading the print edition, I bought the audible version just to listen to Luke Daniels' interpretation of my favorite characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Definitely!
Any additional comments?
I've read on Mr. Hearne's blog/website that he plans for 9 books (an important number in cycles, especially Irish) so I am eagerly awaiting books 5-9. I hope that if 9 ends the Iron Druid Chronicles that he will write another Cycle!

Do NOT Waste Credit
Revisado: 03-03-12
Would you try another book from Richelle Mead and/or Jennifer Van Dyck?
absolutely not, unless I fell prey to an unknown tendency towards masochism
Has Iron Crowned turned you off from other books in this genre?
no
Which character ??? as performed by Jennifer Van Dyck ??? was your favorite?
None
What character would you cut from Iron Crowned?
All of them
Any additional comments?
The saddest moment in this book was realizing since it was narrated in First Person that the character I most wanted to immediately die, the Narrator, aka, the heroine of the novel, wouldn't. To keep listening past the first couple of hours, was perhaps masochistic. I kept on with it, hoping she'd grow the spine/balls that one would logically expect...but no...she dissolved into fumbling incompetence and the banality of the storyline grew in direct proportion.

Better than the last book
Revisado: 01-21-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Pale Demon to be better than the print version?
Probably not, but certainly more convenient. The narrator took a bit of getting used to as I'd already read in print the earlier book in the series, but once adapted to her characterization (not the voice I'd pictured Jenks as having, but it worked well) it was a pleasurable listen.
What did you like best about this story?
It tied up loose ends, Rachel develops in this story instead of spinning her wheels in a repeat of the

Any additional comments?
The price was outrageous, 2 credits it is not worthy of, I wouldn't spend that much again on it if I had to do over. I'd buy the book in print instead. That said, this is alot better than I thought it would be as I was getting tired of Rachel et al simply repeating themselves with no character growth. Now I have hope for this series! However, I'll buy the next one in print if the credit cost remains 2 credits.
