Yikes,
I'm a nurse within another public healthcare setting very similar to the one in this book. Adam's personal approach shares the common every day reality of the life of a junior doctor in a comic yet raw way.
This audio book is read by Adam himself, lending a note of added authenticity to the tales.
When he begins to read the second to last chapter you could tell that this story on particular still hurts. You can hear the pain in his voice before he slips into a monotonous 'here are the facts' tone. As a healthcare professional, I too have stories that still bring me tears, days when work went horribly wrong.

as always Mr Fry lends a sophistication to what, if read by another, would be dismissed as grotesque and crude.

Truly the best audio book I have ever heard

Perhaps this is because it is an adaptation of a book I know and love deeply.

Louisa May Alcott's cherished work is portrayed wonderfully in this adaption. I cannot find the words to do it justice.
For all those who have grown up with a strong affection for the March family, this is a must listen.

A real 'page turner'! But be aware of outdated cultural views. I was disappointed to find that the motive behind the crime was due to the societies anti black philosophies and beliefs.

Captivating story, presentation improved throughout the story.

A C grade copy of a Ryan Reynolds film

A clever Idea that could have been pursued to greater heights.
poor character development and soap opera grade dialogue.
Not read well either, attempts to give accents and voices that were not followed through.

I listen to this every year

The narnian chronicles remain my favourite book series despite leaving childhood behind.
Though this dramatisation is not an exact replica of the books it does not alter the story to a point that they are no longer the books they were written to be.
I will listen again next year!

the emotions feelings and philosophies written by Miss Brönte are well displayed in this audio narrative.

The layers!

Another stellar performance by the narrator!
and the depth of this story is incredible. some really on the edge of your seat moments, the author once again works his magic drawing characters that you come to love.

I'm in two minds

the overall plot was great.
as always the narrator did a fantastic job.

however part of the recording in the middle has a strange feedback background noise. the narrator does make some obvious mistakes, like misnaming characters in a conversation between Lord Straff and Zane.
there is also what appears to be a continuity mistake where the author states that Clubs can burn bronze, when we know he is a smoker not a seeker... therefore only able to burn copper.

but as always the book ended in a way I didn't expect. and I respect that.
