Historia
In 1982 Debra Sue Carter, a 21-year-old cocktail waitress in Ada, Oklahoma, was raped and murdered. For five years the police could not solve the crime. For reasons that were never clear, they suspected Ron Williamson, a major league drop-out, and his friend, Dennis Fritz. The two were finally arrested in 1987 and charged with capital murder. With no physical evidence, the prosecution's defence was built on hearsay and unreliable testimonies.

A very disturbing story.
Revisado: 12-28-11
Where does The Innocent Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
As good as any audio book I have read so far.
What did you like best about this story?
I did not like anything about the story, But it is a story that must be told. This is a very uncomfortable true story that will leave any sensitive readers extremely disturbed. I am a South African and as such I have experienced living in a suppressiva Police State. But the characters in this story would have been extremely at home in the Apartheid regime. I had to ask myself who was more vicious, the murder/rapist or the bloodthirsty prosecuters and police.
What about Vincent Marzello’s performance did you like?
I liked the pace and delivery of Vincent Marzellos's performance and the variety of accents and voice tones employed.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book frightened me intensely. I have read biographies of Stalin, Hitler and Mao, but this book illustrates that the terror tactics that they applied in a macro sense are taking place in the supposedly most civlized countries in a small but insidious way.
Any additional comments?
Be informed about the tactics used in this book so that you can protect yourself and your loved ones from this terror.

Historia
Wentworth is today a crumbling and forgotten palace in Yorkshire. Yet just 100 years ago it was the ancestral pile of the Fitzwilliams' - an aristocratic clan whose home and life were fuelled by coal mining. This is the story of their spectacular decline: of inheritance fights; rumours of a changeling and of lunacy; philandering earls; illicit love; war heroism: a tragic connection to the Kennedys'; violent deaths: mining poverty and squalor; and a class war that literally ripped apart the local landscape.

A blockbuster
Revisado: 05-30-11
This book paints a most interesting picture of life in England on a vast canvas. It ranges from tales of royalty to those of mine workers living in abject poverty. The callousness of the English upper classes is well illustrated and the connections of the Kennedy clan to the English aristocracy and the tragic results of Catholic/Protestant bigotry was a revalation.

Historia
There have been many biographies of Stalin, but the court that surrounded him is untravelled ground. Simon Sebag Montefiore, acclaimed biographer of Catherine the Great's lover, prime minister, and general, Potemkin, has unearthed the vast underpinning that sustained Stalin. Not only ministers such as Molotov or secret service chiefs such as Beria, but men and women whose loyalty he trusted only until the next purge.

Must know
Revisado: 05-30-11
The horror of the Soviet Union under Stalin is something that must be made known. This book has done a lot to bring this reality to the fore. My only criticism is that this is an abridged version and in some ways seemed a bit disjointed. John Nettles renders a good narrative and I will certainly be encouraged to listen to anything else he might read.

Luckily Jonathan Littman and Marc Hershon have written I Hate People!, a smart, counter-intuitive, and irreverent turn on the classic workplace self-help book that will show you how to identify the Ten Least Wanted - the people you hate - while revealing the strategies to neutralize them.

Revisado: 05-30-11
This book had a subject that resonated with me. The book started well, but the second half of the book was filled with a lot of stuff that seemed irrelevant and was just written to fill up a book. It became a no sense read.

Historia
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

What a discovery! Gladwell has finally revealed to me the secret of why my son, born in September, couldn't shape in his age group as a swimmer. A brilliant concept and a brilliant book. Very appropriately narrated by the author.

Better than fiction
Revisado: 05-30-11
The narrator gave this book an excellent degree of authenticity. The book was very disturbing and thought provoking. I have not read any of McNab's fictional titles, but this non fiction book gives a disturbing insight into the way that the real characters in the SAS are affected by the rigors of their profession. Well written and brilliantly narrated.

This book provided me with some extremely fascinating views on football in general and make me realize that England can't win a world cup. The reading out, at length, of spreadsheets with hundreds of data entries makes this book unbearably boring in parts.

This is one of the most disturbing and haunting stories I have ever read. I was spellbound throughout and was able to see within this horror story an uncanny series of bizarre coincidences. I was moved to tears on numerous occasions during the reading. After approaching the subject with a degree of resistance (I kept it in my library for some time before reading) I must recommend this book most highly. Read it!
