Historia
In the summer of 1990, Eddie Vedder left the surf and sun in San Diego to join a group of friends working to put a new band together in the Seattle underground. Within months, they were anything but underground; they’d found their lead singer, and Vedder went on to lead Pearl Jam on a global takeover of ‘90s culture. In this latest edition of Audible’s Words + Music series, Vedder dives deep, reflecting on a life at the intersection of art, sensitivity, and masculinity.

Probably only for the long time fans
Revisado: 12-05-21
He seems to assume the listener knows much more about Pearl Jam and it’s history than I do. Much of the story was vague with references to things I wasn’t familiar with and he doesn’t fill in details for you. Love his singing voice and enjoyed it all the same

Tedious

I finished listening because I was driving and this “story” made me nuts- nothing happens and the words of the narrator are so annoying. Ugh!

Historia
From the hero whistleblower of the infamous Theranos scam, Thicker than Water is a look at never-before-revealed details behind closed doors at the company, revealing a cautionary tale of corporate bullying, gaslighting, ego, and wealth running amok in Silicon Valley. Tyler Shultz had been in the workforce for less than a year when he emailed Elizabeth Holmes, his employer and the CEO and founder of Theranos, with concerns that the company’s lab practices were faulty, ignored quality control, and were potentially dangerous to patients.

Awkward telling of a riveting story
Revisado: 03-07-21
I enjoyed hearing this story from this perspective but found the very frequent nervous laughter awkward and distracting

Historia
After losing her high-octane job as an entertainment blogger, Noelle Hancock was lost. About to turn 29, she'd spent her career writing about celebrities' lives and had forgotten how to live her own. Unemployed and full of self-doubt, she had no idea what she wanted out of life. She feared change - in fact, she feared almost everything. Once confident and ambitious, she had become crippled by anxiety, lacking the courage required even to attend a dinner party - until inspiration struck one day in the form of a quote on a chalkboard in a coffee shop.

Distracting narration
Revisado: 12-12-19
I wonder if I might have enjoyed this book more if I had read it with my eyes instead of my ears. I found the narration distracting. The narrator was rather cartoonish in her reading, particularly the silly male voices. The premise of Ms. Hancock's memoir is very interesting but I didn't feel invested in her journey at all.

I really enjoyed the story - one I didn't know about and the two actresses were so strong. I could visualize them and their settings. Engrossing.

Historia
It's a story of the 1970s. Of a road trip in a wood-paneled station wagon, with the kids in the way-back, singing along to the Steve Miller Band. Brothers waking up early on Saturday mornings for five consecutive hours of cartoons and advertising jingles that they'll be humming all day. A father - one of 3M's greatest and last eight-track-salesman fathers - traveling across the country on the brand-new Boeing 747, providing for his family but wanting nothing more than to get home.

Memory Lane
Revisado: 08-06-18
I loved listening to this book. Having grown up in the '70s, so many of the author's references, particularly to the day-to-day life of a kid in that time, were so fun and brought back memories. Poignant moments peppered with laugh out loud comments - highly recommend.
