Historia
In the spring of 2020, Lara’s three daughters return to the family's orchard in Northern Michigan. While picking cherries, they beg their mother to tell them the story of Peter Duke, a famous actor with whom she shared both a stage and a romance years before at a theater company called Tom Lake. As Lara recalls the past, her daughters examine their own lives and relationship with their mother, and are forced to reconsider the world and everything they thought they knew.

Miracle and Wonder: Conversations with Paul Simon is part memoir, part investigation, and unlike any creative portrait you’ve ever heard before. Recorded over a series of 30 hours of conversation between Simon, Gladwell, and Gladwell’s oldest friend and co-writer, journalist and Broken Record podcast co-host Bruce Headlam, the conversation flows from Simon’s music, to his childhood in Queens, NY, to his frequent collaborators including Art Garfunkel and the nature of creativity itself.

Historia
Casmir has survived against impossible odds, and now he longs to return home. But an invasion force is blockading the Kingdom’s wormhole gate, and it would be suicidal to fly through it now. Worse, his family and friends are stuck on the other side, with hostile forces attacking their home world. The only way Casmir can help is to find out who’s behind the invasion...and convince him to stop. But Casmir isn’t known for his ability to strong-arm people, and this is one enemy who won’t be won over by his friendly demeanor.

This series has been great all the way through. The varied group of friends and allies in this series remind one a bit of Tolkien’s Fellowship in the diversity and gradual move to friendship and respect through experience and close contact. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Good story. Missed Skippy & Joe
Revisado: 06-14-24
Good story about those left on Paradise. I did miss the humor which predominantly comes from the interaction between Joe and Skippy in this series. As they were not in this book, the humor was damped down significantly. Still, definitely worth listening to for followers of the series.

But Colonel Joe Bishop warns that they might not like what they find, and they can't do anything about it without endangering Earth.

Exciting and hilarious. Great listen
Revisado: 06-11-24
I have loved all three books in this series. The author is of the new breed that believed adventures are more fun with personalities and humor. I very much agree. The narration is spot on. The extreme east coast accent of Joe is lost when Skippy and the others speak. A consummate presentation of the characters and the humor. Not many adventure stories have me laughing out loud but this one did - several times.

When Deputy US Marshal Danielle "Danny" Martin was told she'd gotten a promotion, she expected to be leading her own fugitive retrieval team. Instead, she got transferred to Pontian, Florida, of all places, and assigned to a Superhero support detail for Focus, a seemingly immortal superhero who is also one of the most famous lesbian icons on the planet. Bad enough she's got to spend every day working with a woman she's had a crush on since she was five years old, but when she arrives at her new post, things start getting weird.

Ambitious undertaking
Revisado: 05-10-24
This book defies definition. A bit science fiction, a bit fantasy, a lot superhero, and mostly lesbian romance. Superheros, supervillains, time travel, dragons , and dragon society all seamlessly woven into an enjoyable story by the author. Fun.
The narrator did a great job presenting the characters although I might quibble with her “Welsh” accent.

Great story great narrator
Revisado: 01-14-24
I love the author’s mix of history and fiction. Unlike many others in this genre, her books are filled with backstories and intimate details of the character’s lives and emotions. And the narrator is a perfect match portraying the emotions and undertones of each character. If you want more than just a “who done it” to your mysteries, this series is for you.

An entertaining and educational story
Revisado: 08-03-23
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and really appreciated the afterward setting the story in its historical and legendary place. It’s an entertaining and educational story filled with Norse legends and customs. Definitely worth reading/listening.
My only criticism, such as it is, has to do with the narration itself. While the author does a fine job with the narration and women’s voices (I especially liked Fekla), the men’s voices at times were somewhat stereotypical and lacked emotional dynamics. This was particularly evident with Beowulf’s voice which was so gruff that he always seemed to be angry and loud even when the scene called for reflection or tenderness. I considered whether or not that was intentional given the warrior class of these men but it did make them seem a bit one-dimensional. However, that was my only concern and it did not prevent me from enjoying the story.

Historia
Emilia Drakon was once the youngest and kindest of the dragon sorcerers, but she's now the last of her kind. Betrayed and angry, she trades her meekness for a sword and embarks on a quest for vengeance that will lead her straight into the arms of the legendary Captain Maria Welles. Captain of the famed pirate ship, the Wicked Fate, Maria is every bit as treacherous and bloodthirsty as they say. She has her own vendetta and practically jumps at the chance to trick Emilia into joining her crew.
