While his friends go on a desperate search to find him, the planet continues to unravel. Will they find him before it’s too late? Humanity’s next great leap in evolution is starting to look like the trap that Alexa had always suspected it was. A frantic escalation of action drags the world unwillingly to a mind-bending climax.

expert story-telling
Revisado: 06-21-20
Reset has a completely different feel from the first two books of the trilogy. While Crash and Upgrade focused on establishing the characters and story-line, Reset extends the story into the inevitable yet unpredictable conclusion that has been needed. As a novice reader of science-fiction, I found the technical tone to still be relatable and understandable, while still stretching my imagination, and Muhlenfeld writes the conclusion to satisfy his audience while still keeping them intrigued and engaged. His strengths as a writer include drawing the reader into the fiction in a way that transports them to alternate realities and creates vivacious visuals that are not so outlandish that they would appear silly or intangible. His story-telling is gripping and leaves the reader caring for the characters, even the inhuman ones, and anxious to continue reading.

phenominal and relatable
Revisado: 06-21-20
Upgrade picks up where Crash left off, and doesn’t give the reader time to wonder. From the first chapter, Muhlenfeld brings the reader through two story-lines that are both equally fascinating and haunting. With the conclusion of each chapter, I found myself reluctant to leave the character to switch story-lines, only to become completely submerged in the alternate character almost immediately, and again completing the chapter reluctantly only to become fully immersed in the first character’s continuation. I’ve never experienced such expert story-telling, and I’m excited to see where Muhlenfeld will bring his readers next.

Historia
The Timpton family is in their Manhattan penthouse when the city beneath them begins to crumble. Streets are gridlocked. Explosions rattle the building. Delivery drones rain from the sky. When their domestic android spirits them away to a secret underground shelter with thousands of others, it seems too good to be true. By the time they start to wonder if it really is too good to be true, there’s no way out.

New to sci-fi and this book made me a convert
Revisado: 06-21-20
Crash was my introduction into the world of futuristic science-fiction. As a reader of history and nonfiction, it was a stretch and out of my comfort zone, but it came so highly recommended that my curiosity got the better of me. It did not disappoint. The author outlines several story-lines in engaging and captivating ways, and I got through the book quickly and intrigued for more. More often than not, my mind came back to the cast of characters long after I finished the book, and I had to buy the trilogy to satisfy my intrigue. Muhlenfeld is a relatable writer that not only stretches the reader’s imagination, but also does so with an eloquence that allows readers from any background or level to relate to the characters and story-line.
