Quirky, dry hilarity, so well written. Narrator’s regional accent could not have complemented this tale more perfectly, making this a truly immersive listening experience. Looking forward to more by this author.

This is a story filed with warmth and reckoning. As always, JoJo has crafted an entertaining, witty and engaging tale that kept me riveted from the first paragraph. My only regret is not saving it for an upcoming travel commitment- would have been perfect for a long flight.

Practically! This is a great novel and hard to believe it's her first. Beautiful writing style, intriguing and descriptive without being pretentiously wordy in the slightest. I was nearly immediately drawn into the story, each character with perfect depth and symmetry, each with their own unique personality. It was a very believable timeline of one American family with all of their dynamics - joys, sorrows and day-to-day life experiences that any one of us could be living right now, all woven into a very captivating story. I can't say enough about this novel and truly look forward to her next.

This well-written crime drama/mystery is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing. The characters are full, complex and likable (or hatable) and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. My first John Hart novel and I look forward to more.

This immediately pulled me in; the storyline was complex, raw and riveting, and the narrator was great. Well into the story it lost its luster for me, becoming too pat and the rawness became... graphic soft porn. I was too far in to not find out how it ends, however finishing became a struggle without rolling my eyes. This novel was somewhat of an oxymoron to me

This memoir has it all - from Ms. Westover's brilliant way of weaving the story of a child with a bleak future, to the skillful narration of Julia Whelan. Loved every minute of this one.

I loved this story like others she’s written and as usual, it packed a punch at the end. I was not as thrilled with the many different narrators. I prefer to listen to one narrator with skillfully subtle inflections rather than listen to “a performance” like it’s a radio show. But maybe that’s just me. Anyway it was a superb story

Story is interesting enough with some twists, however having grown up in Provincetown and graduating PHS in 1976, I found some serious flaws in the production: 1. Name pronunciations: Costa is pronounced cawstah, NOT coeshtah. Silva is pronounced silva, NOT seeeeeelvah.... and so on. No one ever (except perhaps our great-grandparents) pronounced each other's names with accents. Ever. Those aren't even Portuguese names, they were names given by immigration officials at Ellis island because they couldn't pronounce the names our grandparents had. No one from town attended Nauset Regional High School in the 70s because school choice was not in effect around here until the 1990s. And NRHS is located in EastHAM, not (sniff) Eastum. I'll stop there but my point is that more research should have been performed before the narration was begun. The butchering of all that and more was distracting and irritating.
