Historia
Centuries after a war with the Mutes, the first aliens to be encountered by humankind, a startling new discovery in the far reaches of the Orion Nebula appears. On a planet with conditions favorable to life, explorer vessel The Columbia comes across a small town seemingly inhabited by an intelligent species not yet discovered. But when a highly publicized follow-up mission is sent to make contact mere months later, the entire town has vanished, leaving no trace—or such is presumed to be the case until Alex Benedict and his archaeological crew show up to investigate.

Not as good as the rest of the series
Revisado: 02-14-23
Well read, but the story was not as good as some of the others in the series. It felt a little lazy and I found some of the elements of the story irritating. For example, the scenes on the ship were exasperating, because no one seemed to be in charge or was Captain, which I thought was odd because a democracy on a ship is rare and dangerous for a number of reasons. Also, half the time Chase sounded like being called a pilot was a stretch - she didn’t know much about stellar or planetary mechanics, but it seemed that being a pilot meant the right instructions to give the AI on the ship. Ordinarily I would forgive this if the story was good, but it felt not well thought out, especially when it came to alien contact - talk about mismanagement! The ending was satisfying, though, given what happened to the protagonists, but thought they got off lightly.

Historia
In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child—not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.

Circe the goddess, Circe the witch...
Revisado: 05-11-18
Well written and articulated memoir of Circe and a strong performance by the reader who delivered a stunning performance. Strong female characters throughout the book made a refreshing change given that the men are usually the heroes of these stories. An unusual ending for someone of her kind, but not everything has to end in a Greek tragedy.

The ads enthused, "The virtual lands of Mirror World await you! Live out your most secret dreams in our world of Sword and Sorcery! Become a Great Wizard or a Famous Warrior! Build your own castle, tame a dragon, conquer a kingdom! All those desperate, lonely, and insecure - Mirror World offers you a chance!" But Oleg isn't meant to become a great wizard or a famous warrior. He'll never have a castle of his own. Nor will he ever tame a dragon. And he's definitely not the type to conquer a kingdom, however virtual it may be.

Requires an editor.

There is too much detail and mechanics. It requires an editor. Otherwise an interesting story.

Historia
Daimbert the wizard just wants to spend some quality time with his daughter Antonia. He loves his peaceful kingdom of Yurt, but he and those around him are increasingly finding themselves hampered by their society's strictures and silent rules. The king doesn't want to marry any of the princesses offered to him, the duchess' twin daughters want to be respectively a knight and a priest, and Daimbert himself is forbidden by the norms of wizardry from a liaison with a witch - much less having a daughter.

Not the best of the series, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The audio performance is good, I do like the voice.
