Not great
Revisado: 07-08-22
I normally love books like this, but I just couldn’t really connect or care deeply about any of the characters. The plot seemed really thin and anticlimactic to me. The narrators were wonderful, but for me this was a wasted credit.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Loved it!
Revisado: 04-07-22
I enjoyed this so much! It was easy to get into right from the start, the characters were lovable and believable and the chemistry felt really genuine and sweet. The voice actors were so amazing that at times I wondered if they were in a studio together genuinely laughing and responding to each other at times. I found myself smiling like a dope several times and giggling out loud a couple times. Really well done!

Historia
A queen now in exile as a traitor, Lara has watched Ithicana be conquered by her own father, helpless to do anything to stop the destruction. But when she learns her husband, Aren, has been captured in battle, Lara knows there is only one reason her father is keeping him alive: as bait for his traitorous daughter. And it is bait she fully intends to take. Risking her life to the Tempest Seas, Lara returns to Ithicana with a plan not only to free its king, but for liberating the Bridge Kingdom from her father’s clutches using his own weapons: the sisters whose lives she spared.

Very good
Revisado: 04-02-22
You never know what you’re going to get from the books included with your audible subscription. This one was free but I would have paid for it and will look for others by this author. The story was interesting and kept a good pace. The characters were likable and believable. The narrators were both easy to listen to and paired together nicely.

Historia
Picking up from A Discovery of Witches' cliff-hanger ending, Shadow of Night takes reluctant witch Diana Bishop and vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont on a trip through time to Elizabethan London, where they are plunged into a world of spies, magic, and a coterie of Matthew's old friends, the School of Night. As the search for Ashmole 782—the lost and enchanted manuscript whose mystery first pulled Diana and Matthew into one another's orbit—deepens and Diana seeks out a witch to tutor her in magic, the net of Matthew's past tightens around them.

Boring
Revisado: 01-21-22
I love the narrator and I think the author is very smart and seems passionate about history. But the book is filled with so many details about what is in each room and stuff like that. There is very little actually going on with the story. I got almost halfway through waiting and hoping the story would pick up and then I gave up. I really like the idea of the plot and think it could be wonderful if it just moved a little faster. Maybe I’m just too dumb to appreciate it.

Historia
Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Please get to the point…
Revisado: 11-02-21
I have loved every Kristin Hannah book so far until this one. I respect her so much as an author it pains me to not finish this book, but I just can’t… it’s the most redundant story ever and none of the characters are very likable. I’m curious to hear the mother’s story but I’ve run out of patience… all I keep hearing is how Meredith keeps pushing her husband away, refuses to grieve and keeps herself busy so she won’t have to think about her emotions. Nina is a more likable character but she basically does the same thing. I could have maybe hung in there if I’d had more time to get to know and love the characters before the crap hit the fan. Sadly, I’m returning this. The narrator is excellent, though.

People like Rainbow Williams. Rain isn’t afraid of dying. In fact, she’s looking forward to it. If she can just outrun her pain until April 23, she’ll never have to feel it at all.

‘Wes’ Narrator ruined it for me
Revisado: 08-27-21
The story was just ok. I appreciated the attempt and it had some good parts, but overall it just felt really immature and unbelievable. The ‘Rain’ narrator was good, but the ‘Wes’ narrator was so confusing and irritating. If he grew up in Texas and moved to North Carolina and then Europe WHY does he talk like a whiny surfer boy? I’m surprised I finished it. Definitely not a book I’d listen to again or recommend.

Wonderful
Revisado: 08-25-21
I loved this book! The story and narrator were both wonderful. I’m not a mathematical genius and wasn’t sure how much I could enjoy a book about codebreakers, but it was just so well done. I really enjoyed it and felt like I learned something. Love that the main characters were inspired by real women.

Pointless
Revisado: 05-23-21
I’ve really enjoyed the series, but it was much better with Jennifer Ikeda narrating and this particular book had absolutely no point. It seemed to be building painfully slowly toward a conflict but never actually got there. I guess it’s my fault for not realizing how short this book is, but I was actually shocked when it said the end! I thought maybe my app malfunctioned or something. This was not worth one credit or the six hours of listening.
