Robbie’s side of the story
Revisado: 12-25-24
This was beautifully written and so well narrated you’d swear Robbie was talking. I thought I’d heard, read, and seen it all, but this dives as earnestly, as Robertson could handle, into the heart of The Band, Dylan, music itself, and each of us.

Historia
Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

Stunning
Revisado: 12-11-24
Quirky is a cliche description of this story. Honest, funny but true, rich, Scottish . . . I don’t know, but I dug it nonetheless. You should read it.

Historia
It's June 1941, and the low point of the war. England throws wave after wave of RAF bombers across the Channel, but somehow the Luftwaffe is able to shoot them down at will. The skies, indeed, the war itself seem to belong to Hitler.

What a ride
Revisado: 11-08-24
This turns out to be one of my favorite Follett creations. Each character so well rounded and so many beautiful frustrating surprises. Details of seat-of-your pants flying scenes are to die for! Oh, and the narrator. . . Supreme.

Revisado: 10-08-24
Good character development, surprising twists and turns reveals, and best of all, a capture of a cool, bygone era. Really enjoy Follett’s flying books.

Meloux guides this stranger and his great niece, Cork O'Connor's wife, to safety deep into the Boundary Waters, his home for more than a century.

Henry is amazing
Revisado: 08-18-24
A good study in character development, where you can’t judge a book by its cover. And Henry helps us see that again and again as we wend our way through this new edge-of-your-seat political mystery.

Historia
Clete Purcel—private investigator, ex-member of the New Orleans Police Department, and war veteran with a hard shell and just a few soft spots—is Dave Robicheaux’s longtime friend and partner in detective work. But he has a troubled past. When Clete leaves his car at the local car wash, only to return to find it ransacked by a group of thugs tied to the drug trade from Mexican cartels to Louisiana, it feels personal—his grandniece died of a fentanyl overdose, and his fists curl when he thinks of the dealers who sold it.

Burke’s Best Ever, Man!!!
Revisado: 08-09-24
Love Robichaud, but Clete’s always been my favorite character in this series. I am eternally grateful for this phenomenal experience Burke has gifted us. There is a depth of understanding in this book that transcends the written word and it could only be conveyed by Will Patton. Rock ‘n roll, Noblemon!

Historia
Aurora is a small town nestled in the ancient forest alongside the shores of Minnesota’s Iron Lake. In the summer of 1963, it is the whole world to 12-year-old Cork O’Connor, its rhythms as familiar as his own heartbeat. But when Cork stumbles upon the body of a man he revered hanging from a tree in an abandoned logging camp, it is the first in a series of events that will cause him to question everything he took for granted about his hometown, his family, and himself.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author William Kent Krueger delivers yet another "punch-to-the-gut blend of detective story and investigative fiction" (Booklist) as Cork O'Connor and his son Stephen work together to uncover the truth behind the tragic plane crash of a senator on Desolation Mountain and the mysterious disappearances of several first responders. This is a heart-pounding and devastating mystery the scope and consequences of which go far beyond what father or son could ever have imagined....

Surprise character pulls us out of MN
Revisado: 07-21-24
It was hard having to leave the comfort of Cork’s family behind and sweat through high stakes in the desert country of Tucson and surroundings. All for the sake of Cork’s new wife’s troubled son, Peter. Had no great affection for him at the onset, but as the saying goes, “Ya can’t judge a book . . .”

Intriguing cultural weave between an old neighbor of Cork’s, the struggle of Native culture in the desires and needs of modern man, nature, and the will of Spirit. Who wins?
