Historia
The Simulation Hypothesis, by best-selling author, renowned MIT computer scientist, and Silicon Valley video game designer Rizwan Virk, explains one of the most daring and consequential theories of our time. Drawing from research and concepts from computer science, artificial intelligence, video games, quantum physics, and referencing both speculative fiction and ancient eastern spiritual texts, Virk shows how all of these traditions come together to point to the idea that we may be inside a simulated reality like the Matrix.

Needs audio editing
Revisado: 05-09-22
Frequent instances where narration needs audio editing. Re-reading of passages, background noise. Sounds like a draft copy was published rather than final cut.

Historia
Robert Thurman's Basic Buddhism is a collective series of five lectures he has given on Buddhism. In these lectures, Thurman patiently takes apart each jewel of Buddhism: The Buddha as the teacher of enlightenment, the Dharma as the teaching, or enlightenment itself, and the Sangha as the historical and current community of learners seeking to become Buddhas.

Mr. Thurman can get a bit enthusiastic and sometimes makes it hard to understand. Otherwise, excellent.

Agree this book is damaging for Aspie teens
Revisado: 05-09-19
I agree that this book is potentially damaging to teen Aspie girls. It insists that Aspie girls stuff themselves into a stereotypical box, to sacrifice their true selves for nothing more than subordinate friendships to girls I wouldn't allow my dog to play with, much less a teen girl. We tell kids to "be themselves" but then in this book totally contradict that by telling them to be somebody else, somebody who fits in with a sick high-school culture that values only conformity, shallowness, money, "fashion" and rigidly stereotyped gender roles.
I'm a newly diagnosed adult Aspie, I was hoping this book would provide useful information, instead I'm sickened. I won't be recommending it.

Historia
This fascinating 24-lecture course is a richly detailed guide to the theology, sacred writings, rituals, and outstanding human figures of the Gnostic movements. What we call "Gnosticism" comprised a number of related religious ideologies and movements, all of which sought " gnosis," or immediate, direct, and intimate knowledge of God. The Gnostics had many scriptures, but unlike the holy texts of other religions, Gnostic scriptures were often modified over time.

Excellent survey of Gnosticism, very good balance between details and overview. For the interested layperson or as supplement to academic study.

I waited several years to read / listen to this book and am by no means disappointed. Bravo to Mr. Haldeman! Excellent sci fi concepts but makes you feel for what the characters are going through.
