Low stakes, high praise

this was an awesome slice of life book. It was relaxing, which was a good change of pace. the narrator did awesome bringing the charaters to life! I think there are some pretty fun surprises for everyone, and it's low stakes makes it to where anyone can listen, even with kids in the car.

Solid addition to the Universe

This book stands well enough on its own, but where it really shines is if you have knowledge of the universe!! I love the idea of Jax having to navigate such a dog eat dog world.

The good: So far my favorite part of Cyber Squad is how alive the world feels! The side characters have enough show time that they feel like everyone has their own story which is goods, keeping in mind that we only get a small taste of the main characters life at work.

The not so good: One part that took me out of the story was two instances of perspective shift, the entire time we are watching the main character, and we only know what he knows, only sees what he sees except for two instances and for spoilers Ill leave it there.

The performance: was really good, with the narrator hitting high and low notes of the story. Will definitely pick up more books from him.

Blew me away

This story is absolutely amazing. I think the dynamic between the characters is glorious. The performance was masterfully done. The dynamic between Merciless and the Night Huntress is a breath of fresh air. At the end of the day, I think its an awesome take on a world with supers.

Series going strong

Steaks get higher and heros get stronger. Second book was good aside from a few beefs. The good first, the progression in power (though in universe fast) does feel good. The story is fun, and absolutely bingable. Though I think Casy could be guessed out abit more, there is a good amount of development happening across multiple characters. The not so good. there is still no unlikable characters that aren't psychos, plus starting in this book they come with a side of SA, a character can just be a jerk without being an overt monster. The mana box started feeling like a get out of jail free card "have a problem? mana box it" over all though the book is similar to the first book and I would recommend.

Good Story

Tower Climber is good, if you like LitRPG and tower climbing its a solid story with what ends up being a pretty good twist.


***SPOILERS***DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU DONT WANT ANY SPOILERS

The reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because the characters that are unlikeable are all a bit over the top. Every character that is unlikeable is secretly uber evil, like muggs people in allys and is probably a serial killer (or actually is one). I get that there needs to be evil and some kind of plot, but the ONLY people that are portrayed as unlikeable are sadistic assholes. Another issue that brought me out of the story was the training that the main character did in the beginning of becoming a climber, we are supposed to believe that a 16 year old that has just recently stopped being in a wheelchair can run 100 laps around a track? thats about 26(ish) miles, and the second day he does it twice. Overall a great book but just some things that bugged me.

Fantastic look into the world of Superheros

Corpies was an amazing addition to the universe of Super Powereds, it really opens the world building to another level. While the main series does a good job of world building, being centered around a school puts it into a bit of a bubble. Corpies excels in popping that bubble and letting the reader/listener see all levels of a world with heroes and super powers. For listeners of the series, its a must but it can stand alone.

Book was alot of fun

The main character has some Mary Sue characteristics, which was the only downside for me. Other than that its alot of fun, and has some real "dang thats cool" moments. This is not a dark take on superheros, or a satire or the genre (or if it is its above my head). I think it does the litRPG/cultivation genres proud and im happy its apart of my library. The writing was very well done and the narration was top notch, definitely a book that's going to get a few re-listen's.
