For a city with a population of about 47,000, there’s a lot of crazy b*stards in Inverness! I just finished this seventh book in the DCI Logan series and I’m hooked. The characters have personalities and I am invested enough to actually care about them now. Jack Logan is downright funny at times, especially when he gets irritated at underlings or dressed down by his superiors. The mysteries are entertaining and well-done, with good plot twists. The narrator, Angus King, is superb. It must be the water from the nearby Lochs but there’re a lot of serial killers for such a small population! Also useful for learning to swear in Gaelic!

So much better than I thought it would be!

I’ve had this book in my library for quite some time but didn’t listen to it until recently. I’m not sure why, except that I had no idea how good it would be. It was different than whatever I imagined and so much better, as is often the case for this Constant Reader. A very engaging story of “what if?” The narration was excellent and the storyline very engaging. I highly recommend it.

This was my first foray into World War II submarine fiction. An excellent and engaging story, well worth the listen. RC Bray, as always, provides excellent narration. I really felt for these characters.

Although a period piece, the message is timeless. Tragedy, loss, honor, unforgiveness, forgiveness… Truly an excellent story and the voicing by RC Bray was magnificent.

A fun ride!

A fun, wild ride through space and time. Yes, it’s a bit “woke” but you can still enjoy the story, the battle humor and the adventure even if that’s not your thing. Looking forward to the next installment!

Absolutely hilarious

This book is totally off the wall funny. Just the antidote to the daily cavalcade of news about riots, fires, political lunacy and CoronaPalooza 2020. One crazy exploit after another, supremely performed by RC Bray. Well worth the credit.

You’re killing me Blackmore!

Frankly, I didn’t think Gus would be back after book four but I am sure glad he is. This series is fantastic. The action goes on and on. I was truly gob smacked by one plot development but I guess that’s how it goes in the ZA. Seems that there will be another book coming. I hope it’s soon. RC Bray is tremendous as always—he IS Augustus Berry! And the villains get crazier and crazier.

I’m so glad I bought this audiobook before it became unavailable on Audible. Actually, I had it for more than a year before I finally listened to it. What a tremendous story, full of great suspense and tension and lots of science I can’t begin to understand but don’t need to! The narration is fantastic, the story is funny and dramatic. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Excellent all around!

Truly enjoyable overview of Churchhill‘s life and contributions coupled with exceptional narration. While Johnson does not pretend to go to the depths of, say, Martin Gilbert, his stories and analysis of Churchhill’s life are thus all the more entertaining, illuminating the life of this great man with insight and dry humor. This is not just a collection of dry facts or minutia; rather, it is an overview of the man and his greatness. The world would have been a far different place had Churchill not have lived and risen to the occasion of his times.

A story of struggle, surrender and God’s furious pursuit

Thank you, Kim Walker-Smith, for sharing your story. I’m lots older than you but can relate very much to the struggles and emotions you described. Thank you for your vulnerability, passion and grit. I’m very inspired and grateful for the “weakness and fears” you described and how God has loved you enough to bring you back to face the same issues over and again to heal you on a deeper level—and here I thought I was the only one!! You sound like family and are a blessing to many. Highly recommended.
