Historia
American author, scholar, and satirist H.L. Mencken wrote The American Language in 1919, intending to defend American speech from prescriptivist critics. "America itself is unutterably vulgar. But vulgarity, after all, means no more than a yielding to natural impulses in the face of conventional inhibitions, and that yielding to natural impulses is at the heart of all healthy language-making."

The book is enjoyable, the narration poor.
Revisado: 05-19-23
Though the book is quite an informative guide to the study of the American language, yet there manifest a good number of mispronounced words, along with a dull and monotone style of narration.

Historia
As a young Christian man, Matthew Vines harbored the same basic hopes of most young people: to someday share his life with someone, to build a family of his own, to give and receive love. But when he realized he was gay, those hopes were called into question. The Bible, he’d been taught, condemned gay relationships. Feeling the tension between his understanding of the Bible and the reality of his same-sex orientation, Vines devoted years of intensive research into what the Bible says about homosexuality.

I do not agree completely with Vines, even as a gay guy
Revisado: 09-18-22
Logically and coherently written, granted, the book’s premises such as women being viewed as inferior to men in ALL ancient cultures whose religious practices may relate more or less to the worship of our Lord is questionable. More research on this claim is deserved. Also, I advise authors to use a more formal and professional tone when it comes to writing.

Historia
Drawing on startling new evidence from the mapping of the genome, an explosive new account of the genetic basis of race and its role in the human story. Human evolution, the consensus view insists, ended in prehistory. Inconveniently, as Nicholas Wade argues in A Troublesome Inheritance, the consensus view cannot be right. And in fact, we know that populations have changed in the past few thousand years - to be lactose tolerant, for example, and to survive at high altitudes.

Thanks for the courage, vigor, and tenacity for engaging in such a risky business at the defiance of the tyrannical and illiberal left! Well-done!

Historia
Best-selling social historian Charles Murray has written a delightfully fussy - and entertaining - book on the hidden rules of the road in the workplace - and in life - from the standpoint of an admonishing, but encouraging, workplace grouch and taskmaster. Why the curmudgeon? The fact is that most older, more senior people in the workplace are closet curmudgeons. In today's politically correct world, they may hide their displeasure over your misuse of grammar or your overly familiar use of their first name without an express invitation. But don't be fooled by their pleasant demeanor....

A well-written guide to a happy & meaningful life for young adults
Revisado: 07-21-22
Charles Murray is arguably my favorite writer of the modern era. In this book, he shares his well-grounded thoughts for any ambitious and intelligent young adults in realizing the best of their faculties so as to achieve happiness and become contributing members of the society.

Historia
In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric. After all, if we must discard the ideas of Kant, Hume, and Mill for their opinions on race, shouldn’t we discard Marx, whose work is peppered with racial slurs and anti-Semitism? Embers of racism remain to be stamped out in America, but what about the raging racist inferno in the Middle East and Asia?

As someone who has already been struggling with the ails of melancholy, I discourage anyone in like condition to mine to listen to it, for it will not make you happy.
