Historia
Living off the land and adapting to a changing environment takes a special individual with the unique skills, training, and determination necessary to survive. Gus Berry is not that individual. The former house painter barely made it out of Annapolis as its population underwent a violent transformation, leaving everyone he knew or loved dead—or undead. Now, Gus needs food and booze, weapons and armor, clothing that fits, and above all, toilet paper, preferably two-ply.

An amazing addition
Revisado: 02-15-22
Superb! Another great Mountain Man novel. It's great to see Gus again and great to see more of the beginning of the zombie uprising. Blackmore does a great job of really bringing out the loneliness of his character, the mourning of loved ones in a world where holding on to grief can get you killed. I love that you can really feel the horror Gus feels when facing the undead and just his own existence at his new life. The choices he makes gets on my nerves at times, but that makes it feel more real as well. As an avid zombie lover who consumes pretty much everything that contains the undead, I can honestly say The Mountain Man series is easily one of the best zombie stories to come out in quite a while.

Historia
The end begins with a viral outbreak unlike anything mankind has ever encountered before. The infected are subject to delirium, fever, a dramatic increase in violent behavior, and a one-hundred percent mortality rate. Death. But it doesn't end there. The victims return from death to walk the earth. When a massive military operation fails to contain the plague of the living dead it escalates into a global pandemic.

Love the story
Revisado: 11-02-21
The story is well written and honestly one of my favorite zombie novels. The performance leaves a lot to be desired, not sure why he chose to make every male sound like that but it's whatever I suppose. Still worth it though.

Historia
The world crashed to pieces on June 23rd and Adrian Ring wasn't anywhere near ready for it. He had no guns, no food, no friends around, a cat that wanted to slip out the back of the condo and a girlfriend trapped in the heart of the city. This is the story of how he survived. Real, flawed, and raw, Dark Recollections is Adrian's own story of how he survived after "That Day". Told through his eyes as he talks to his laptop, affectionately named "Mr. Journal".

Listen. I'm a super fan of zombies. As a person who listens and reads a lot of zombie novels and series, this one is at the bottom of the list for so many reasons. I cannot understand the praise for this one.
The main character, Adrian, is extremely unlikable. The author adding scenes about outside parties seeing him as great and totally cool makes him even more unlikable. And throughout the entire four books he doesn't get better.
Just another boring "ex military dude who is super bland but definitely somehow the best at everything" zombie novel.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Started this with low expectations
Revisado: 09-16-21
Absolutely blown away by this series. I listen to a lot of zombie/ post apocalyptic fiction so my standards are all over the place when it comes to the good ones. This series is amazing. sometimes it drones on a bit, but you can tell that that is Zed's nature. I love the characters, all of them. The author also didn't try to over use military terms which is a definite win in my book.
Only criticism would be the mispronouncing of a few words which are easier to look past than one would think, but definitely a great listen.

Tamsen Donner must be a witch. That is the only way to explain the series of misfortunes that have plagued the wagon train known as the Donner Party. Depleted rations, bitter quarrels, and the mysterious death of a little boy have driven the pioneers to the brink of madness. They cannot escape the feeling that someone—or something—is stalking them. Whether it was a curse from the beautiful Tamsen, the choice to follow an experimental route West, or just bad luck - the 90 men, women, and children of the Donner Party are at the brink of one of the deadliest adventures in history.

This was presented to me as a horror story. It's just a boring novel that pretty much tries to be more than it is. All of the twists and turns are incredibly predictable and doesn't add anything to the story at all. Really wanted a horror novel but got played by choosing this.

In a quest for a simpler life, Helen and Nate have abandoned the comforts of suburbia to take up residence on 44 acres of rural land where they will begin the ultimate, aspirational do-it-yourself project: building the house of their dreams. The story was a bit boring and easy to guess the ending. Disappointing considering the reviews I've heard and seen for this book. It's just okay really. Nothing special and not well written enough for me to check out the authors other works.

Are you ready for the end? An ancient tomb is unearthed live on cable TV after months of hype. It's billed as the archeological equivalent of Shark Week. The actual footage takes a turn no one ever expected. Those minutes of footage will be combed over by governments worldwide seeking to understand what horror came out of that tomb.

Not that good...
Revisado: 06-30-21
Really cliché. Ex military dad trained his kids to shoot just like most zombie novels out there. Nothing about this novel is original, surprising and is pretty boring.
A character death is so bland and does not inspire any sadness since the characters are so flat.
Also not a found family, adoptive family. Big difference.

Historia
This story picks up exactly where book one left off. The Talbot family is evacuating their home amid a zombie apocalypse. Mankind is on the edge of extinction as a new dominant, mindless opponent scours in search of food, which happens to be non-infected humans. In this book are the journal entries of Michael Talbot, his wife, Tracy, and their kids, Nicole, Justin, and Travis. With them are Brendon, Nicole's fiancee, and Tommy, previously a Wal-Mart door greeter who may be more than he seems.

Oof
Revisado: 05-20-21
It was a struggle to get through this book. What is up with the hyper fixation on flatulence? Seriously. The author spends so much time over describing them and brings them up so much. Is it a fetish or something. Also, this book continues the horrible misogyny. It's like a man from the 50's decided to include inept women into his story. And the only useful one dies. Of course.

Historia
This is the story of Michael Talbot, his family, and his friends: a band of ordinary people trying to get by in extraordinary times. When disaster strikes, Mike, a self-proclaimed survivalist, does his best to ensure the safety and security of those he cares for. Book One of the Zombie Fallout Trilogy follows our lead character at his self-deprecating, sarcastic best. What he encounters along the way leads him down a long dark road, always skirting the edge of insanity.

Fun but weirdly sexist
Revisado: 05-13-21
All in all fun, will probably finish the series, but I wouldn't listen again.
Fun story and the main character is just weird enough to be funny. The sexism is constant and really jarring. The women are 'scary when angry' and cannot shoot or function when stressed (?) It's just weird when things are progressing nicely just for some dumb misogynistic line to pop up.

Preformance amazing. Story not so much.
Revisado: 04-20-21
I suppose the authors forward where he says unlike zombie fiction/media, his zombies were a man made virus not magic really sets up how this story went for me. Perhaps even set me out on the wrong foot and tainted my view right off the bat.
Most, if not all, zombie consumers know that 9/10 stories have the virus as man made catastrophe, so I'm unsure why this guy thinks he's made something ground breaking. This whole series reads like the usual "military guys and scientist ladies" cliche, so the the whole 'not your typical zombie story' intro feels really forced and unnecessary.
R.C. Bray killed it, as always. His reading was the only thing that made me care enough to finish the books.
