Historia
Wayne Castine was found brutally murdered and the murderer remains at large. Castine, a suspected child predator, was killed in Brattleboro where he was involved with a tangled network of an extended family living in a local trailer park. Any member of the clan would have had the opportunity to kill him, and, as he was involved with both the mother and her 12 year old daughter, reason to commit the murder.

HORRIBLE Narrator
Revisado: 10-25-20
I have enjoyed the Joe Gunther series and Tom Taylorson’s narration. William Dufris gives an awful performance, however. He’s trying hard to mimic the gravelly voice of Taylorson’s Gunther and fails so miserably that I cannot get past it to follow the storyline. I see that a number of the next books in the series have this narrator as well. I will probably skip them.

Historia
Corey Douglas and his K-9 partner, Simon Garfunkel, have recently retired from the police force. Not ready to give up the life yet, they come up with a proposal for fellow former cop, Laurie Carpenter, and her investigating partner, Marcus. They call themselves the K Team, in honor of Simon. Their first job as private investigators comes to them from Judge Henry Henderson, who's known as a very tough but fair judge, and they've all come up against him in court at one time or another. Though it's hard to believe, Judge Henderson is being blackmailed and extorted.

Horrible Narrator
Revisado: 04-01-20
This is a standard David Rosenfelt, but it introduces a new character and a new alliance to his Andy Carpenter series, and this story is told from the perspective of that new character. I generally like them because I like dogs and mysteries including dogs, and I love Andy’s dry wit. I have thoroughly enjoyed Grover Gardner’s narration in the past, but Fred Bergman is a very poor replacement. He is nasally, annoying and speaks much too quickly, and I hope this is not a permanent change!

When Dr. Samantha Owens' homicide detective friend, Darren Fletcher, invites her to look over the evidence of a routine police investigation, she jumps at the chance and immediately realizes the crime scene has been staged. What seems to be a clear case of murder/suicide - a crime of passion - is anything but....

What a Disappointment
Revisado: 06-11-15
The first in this series led me to believe that they would get better. The 2nd was ok. This one was so far-fetched the reader must suspend all reason. Will return this.

Why would anyone choose a reader with a British accent to read a story about a US Navy submarine?????? Couldn't concentrate on the story because of the poor narration.

A character study with interesting characters and some shady pasts, all parceled out a little at a time. You soon suspect what has to happen, but getting there is all the fun. Will be looking for more by this author.

Historia
What's it like to be Miami criminal defense attorney Jack Swyteck? Simply imagine that your father is Florida's governor, your best friend was once on death row, and your love life could fill an entire chapter in Cupid's Rules of Love and War (Idiot's Edition). Throw in an indictment for murder and a litany of lesser charges that could easily get a lawyer disbarred, and believe it or not, you're only scratching the surface.

This author is a good new find...
Revisado: 01-02-13
I enjoyed this one as much for its setting in the low country of South Carolina as for the story and characters, which were both a little different and quirky - just my kind of read. Who would have thought there was a story in a country bumpkin (!), a government mortgage lender and an Inspector General's investigator? Hope to see more of these characters as their relationship develops (or not).

Very interesting concept
Revisado: 12-13-12
This was as unique a plot as I've seen in a long time, and I liked the shifts from present to past, but the it would have been much stronger without the ungainly coincidences. Good character development and good sense of the lives of the poor in the 1930s. Worth the time.

Bad guys running the army? Really?
Revisado: 12-13-12
Take your pick here - there are bad guys everywhere you look. But the real culprit is something of a surprise, and the heroine does way too much hand-wringing.
