Absolutely fantastic! Read and listened at the same time. A great story and a must read! Holly, as a character, is one of my absolute favorites!

Every autumn, John Pentecost returns to the farm where he grew up to help gather the sheep down from the moors for the winter. Very little changes in the Endlands, but this year, his grandfather - the Gaffer - has died, and John's new wife, Katherine, is accompanying him for the first time. As the farmers of the Endlands bury the Gaffer and prepare to gather the sheep, they begin to wonder whether they've let the Devil in.

Boring.
Revisado: 07-12-21
I wouldn't bother. Nothing really happens and the entire book just drags on. It's written well - just so incredibly boring.

Historia
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

One of My Favorites.
Revisado: 11-07-19
The story was amazing. How King comes up with this stuff, I don't know. I was hooked from the beginning and kept in the entire time. Not only was the story great, it was very creepy at certain points, which drew me in even more. This has to be one of my favorite King books. The subject matter was great (King's description of both sides of the abortion debate was spot on, in my opinion), and the characters were fascinating, as well. Couldn't give it enough praise. Eli narrateded great, as well. Nothing immerses me even more than someone who can tell a story well. Thank you Stephen and Eli.
The one thing I did not like was the music and sound effects. Very loud (to the point where I could here the story), annoying and unnecessary. A good story doesn't need shrill violins and guitars overlapping the person who is telling it. Unhappy with the person who thought it'd be a good idea to keep the narrator voice at a 5 and the "music" at a 11.

It has been 1,200 years since the demons and their allies destroyed the last zdrell master, the only kind of wizard who could challenge their mastery of the world. Master Silurian, though not a zdrell master himself, has been fighting demon magic all his considerable life and hoping against hope that a new zdrell master would enter the world. Now as the demons and their wizards are nearly ready take over the continent and cement their hold over the entire human race, Jonny is discovered by Silurian, a boy, who untutored is able to manipulate magic like the zdrell masters of old.

Good book. 👍
Revisado: 11-28-18
The book was very good. I would like to learn more about the school Jonny went to and the history of the lands, the wars, the magic of Zdrell, etc. A lot of time was spent on the main character and I was wanting to learn more about the outside world, as well. I enjoyed a more structured approach to magic, as well. Things didn't just exist or happen for no reason. Vague excuses weren't made to explain things, either. Overall, I enjoyed the book and I'll be eagerly waiting for the second to come out. 👍
