Incredible Series!

This series is absolutely compelling! After purchasing Onyx Storm, I quickly realized I needed to go back and re-listen to the first two books—and I’m so glad I did. The connections and subtle details are even more powerful the second time around, making Onyx Storm even more gripping. I’m completely invested in this series. I couldn’t stop listening—lost track of time, sacrificed sleep, and still wanted more. Now I’m counting down the days until the next book. The suspense is real!

Great Trilogy

What makes this trilogy stand out is that it is a well written, complete story, with engaging characters and lots of twists and turns. The last book is satisfying as it is complete as it defines everyone’s fate. Great listen. Highly recommend and propose you start with the first book in the series for a compelling adventure!

Cute Story

I enjoyed the general premise of the story, but the narrators didn’t work for me. Their delivery felt more distracting than engaging, which made it harder to immerse myself in the book. While the story itself is cute, it’s not particularly compelling.

That said, it’s an easy, low-stakes read—perfect if you’re looking for something that doesn’t require much focus. However, it didn’t stand out for me, especially compared to the phenomenal series I’ve been diving into lately. Perhaps I just wasn’t in the right mindset for a short, stand-alone fantasy.

I really wanted to like it, but in the end, it felt just okay.

Captivated

The series is consuming. It was very hard to take any breaks from the books! If you’re going to pick it up, I would recommend to read the Tier One series 1st and then go straight into Sons Of Valor starting with book one. The characters are so well-developed. I have close to 1000 books in my audible library and Tier One and Sons of valor are absolutely at the top of my “favorites” list. If you like this genre, you will love these books!

Stories are a thriller - soap opera

I have mixed feelings about this series. First, you should start at the first book. The characters personal lives are a big part of the books. Second, if you are sensitive to rape, abuse (all’s forms) this series isn’t for you.
I love Tier One, Grey Man, Terminal list, Scott Havrath etc…. This series is different. It is easier to process world plots & terrorism than to accept the scum that lives among us and the messiness of life.
I have read the first five books and have to take a humanity break. Constant neighborhood horrors and personal drama, wears me out.
I sometimes feel like there is a liberal personal agenda in the plot and the books walk a fine line of character development versus stereotyping.
I will finish the series, but I wouldn’t recommend it to my husband and I would be cautious who I recommended it to.
Finally the narrator….. he reads the main story well but I really dislike his individual character voices. The women sound flip, flamboyant, or sluggish.
That being said, the storylines are complex, twisted, disturbing, and violent. The violence feels more personal than the thrillers I mentioned above…. Maybe because this could happen in a city near you?

Previous reviews were all correct, this narrator is AWFUL

Bottom line - read the other reviews…they’re spot on. This is the last book in the series for me. Simply cannot stand this narrator. Ruins the whole book. Shame on Rollins for signing off on this guy. Wow, what a 180 from the first narrator. Listeners beware.
