The question I address in this brief work is how Christ-followers might hold the tension of these two abiding and complementary truths: 1. Christ’s one-of-a-kind revelation 2. Abba’s all-inclusive love. I believe that Sacred Scripture and Christ himself affirm both these doctrines in a mind-blowing fullness. And yet those who enthusiastically profess either one of these two truths frequently do so at the expense of their complement.

Message is antithetical to Scrioture’s message of love
Revisado: 04-26-25
Out of love, Christ through the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth, which makes exclusive claim about Jesus’s name, and about his exclusivity in salvation. I see what the book is trying to do but it doesn’t align with scripture.

Historia
With the story of her conversion as a backdrop, Rosaria Butterfield invites us into her home to show us how God can use “radical, ordinary hospitality” to bring the Gospel to our lost friends and neighbors. Such hospitality sees our homes as not our own but as God’s tools for the furtherance of his kingdom as we welcome those who look, think, believe, and act differently from us into our everyday, sometimes messy lives - helping them see what true Christian faith really looks like.

Historia
In one life-changing moment, the lives of the Jewish exiles in Babylon are thrown into confusion and despair when a decree arrives from the king's palace in Susa. It calls for the annihilation of every Jewish man, woman, and child throughout the empire on the 13th day of Adar, in less than one year. Ezra, a quiet Jewish scholar and teacher, is suddenly called upon to lead the community as they seek God for a reason for this catastrophe.

Excellent narration and well developed characters in a fascinating historical fiction novel
Revisado: 01-18-24
I enjoyed the freed slaves point of view after the war. It’s easy to glass over the hardships they faced immediately following the war. I haven’t read too many historical fiction books that address the thoughts, feelings, and situations a newly freed slave may go through. Usually the POV is during the war, or many years after the war. I really enjoyed considering the time fe immediately following and what life must have been like for all southerners, regardless of skin color and social position. I also love to see the realistic situations develop between the characters and God. Life isn’t always roses, and sometimes our hearts struggle with belief through of our experiences and hardships. This book was well written, and the narrator was fantastic. I appreciate all of her different voices and accents. I always enjoy Lynn Austin novels and now I have a new favorite narrator to listen to, as well.

Excellently told, Engaging story

I loved the narrator’s voice, her ability to affect a southern accent, a male voice, and speak like people of that era and place. The story itself was fascinating and thought provoking. As always, the Bible woven into the story is one of the best parts.

Revisado: 09-14-23
The narrator was excellent. Her tone of voice and temp fit the story perfectly. I’ve been so impressed by Ms Austin’s books. I haven’t listened to one yet that didn’t teach me or reinforce previously learned Godly wisdom. I’m so thankful to have come across this author. Beautifully written.
