Historia
Fight is the backstage story of bloodsport politics in its rawest form—the clawing, backstabbing, and rabble-rousing that drove Donald Trump into the White House and Democrats into the wilderness. At every turn, the combatants went for the jugular, whether they were facing down rivals in the other party or their own.

Heartbreaking ❤️🩹

I felt the emotions of everyone involved. I’m sure Biden suffered during his more lucid moments. This was not the first president who needed to be shielded during a health crisis. The poor man held the world on his fragile shoulders and I’m sure the presidency accelerated the decline considerably. I enjoyed the narrative.

Historia
This groundbreaking and highly acclaimed work examines the two most influential African American leaders of the twentieth century. While Martin Luther King, Jr., saw America as "essentially a dream . . . as yet unfulfilled," Malcolm X viewed America as a realized nightmare. James Cone cuts through superficial assessments of King and Malcolm as polar opposites to reveal two men whose visions are complementary and moving toward convergence.

Engrossing
Revisado: 02-27-25
I really appreciated how the author compared and contrasted these two giants in how they influenced the Civil Rights movement. I feel there was a place for the both of them. Not everyone was prepared to absorb the results of Malcolm’s boldness, but it was necessary to see that not everyone was going to tow a gentle line.
Bottom line is that they were both human and deserved respect. They both sacrificed themselves at young ages for our behalf. Rest in Power to the both of them.

When boxing was bold, bright, and glamorous and the fights were the hottest sporting events of the year, Joe Frazier was king as the Heavyweight Champion of the World. From 1970 to 1973 he reigned. With a career record of 32-4-1 with twenty-seven knockouts and an Olympic gold medal, Frazier leaves little question that he was one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Humble, Likable Person
Revisado: 12-26-24
I developed a soft spot for Joe while listening to this. He’s really a good natured person. The narrator represented him well.
Like another reviewer said, I listened to Ali’s story first. I didn’t care for Ali too much, but after growing up, I concur that Ali wasn’t really all that he was cracked up to be… certainly no “greatest “.
I respect Joe more.

Historia
In the summer of 1964, with the civil rights movement stalled, seven hundred college students descended on Mississippi to register black voters, teach in Freedom Schools, and live in sharecroppers' shacks. But by the time their first night in the state had ended, three volunteers were dead, black churches had burned, and America had a new definition of freedom.

I had NO IDEA how incredibly interesting this audiobook would be! I’ve been listening in the mornings during my commute to work. So many interesting facts! The narrator draw me in and I’m in a different world, seeing all that I already knew from a different perspective.
I thank BOTH, the author and the narrator for speaking to my soul.

That Reverend Curtis Black! I loved everything about this book. The characters, the NARRATOR (loved the inflections in her entertaining voice!), the story line. I found myself cracking up one minute and getting mad like these are real people! I plan to listen to each and every audiobook in this series. I’d love for Curtis to stop his mess but…then, there would not be these juicy novels!

Historia
As a child growing up in North Korea, Hyeonseo Lee was one of millions trapped by a secretive and brutal communist regime. Her home on the border with China gave her some exposure to the world beyond the confines of the Hermit Kingdom and, as the famine of the 1990s struck, she began to wonder, question and realise that she had been brainwashed her entire life. Given the repression, poverty and starvation she witnessed surely her country could not be, as she had been told, 'the best on the planet'?

I can’t stop listening! Each chapter drew me in further, and the narrator’s voice didn’t really irritate me at all. It really illuminated daily life in communist North Korea and made me even more appreciative of my life in America.
I pray for every soul surviving in that region, and thank this author for sharing her journey.

Historia
Vividly written and exhaustively researched, Jonathan Eig’s King: A Life is the first major biography in decades of the civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.—and the first to include recently declassified FBI files. In this revelatory new portrait of the preacher and activist who shook the world, the bestselling biographer gives us an intimate view of the courageous and often emotionally troubled human being who demanded peaceful protest for his movement but was rarely at peace with himself.

Revisado: 06-22-23
I could not stop listening, and don't want it to end. I have always felt that we should pay heed to the MESSAGE, not the MAN. King was a human being with habits and faults like the rest of us. He had taken on a deep responsibility, one that he was not ready for in some ways. I still respect him for his work and sacrifice to make a better world for us.
Narration can make or break an audio book, and in this case, I hung onto every word.

Historia
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Fishburne's narration captures you and the additional, occasional music adds drama. I only wish that the preface and the assassination were included. Why would they miss that?? Other wise, this is superb!

Historia
From the immense staff running a lavish Edwardian estate and the lonely maid-of-all-work cooking in a cramped middle-class house to the poor child doing chores in a slightly less poor household, servants were essential to the British way of life. They were hired not only for their skills but also to demonstrate the social standing of their employers - even as they were required to tread softly and blend into the background. More than simply the laboring class serving the upper crust - as popular culture would have us believe - they were a diverse group that shaped and witnessed major changes in the modern home, family, and social order.

REALITY!
Revisado: 12-14-22
There is no way I can romanticize the Victorian society after listening to this! These poor people were taken for granted! They were invisible, sub-human and treated like cattle. No rest for the weary, no warmth from the cold. Just existing and breathing until they met their makers for these clueless, cruel and superficial people!
This is an excellent listen to learn how people were regarded and treated. I thank the author for sharing this reality. I’d love to know how today’s royal servants are faring.
