Historia
Carl Mørck used to be one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl - who didn’t draw his weapon - blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of cold cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: A liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead...yet.

The story, characters and plot.
Revisado: 02-11-25
Getting to know the beginning of Department Q was great specially having read other Dpt Q books before. I was slightly put off by the Danish ‘accent’ and it took a while to get used to that. Otherwise I highly recommend this audiobook, excellent book.

When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible - and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men.

The message and the messenger!
Revisado: 10-29-24
I had heard of Thich Nhat Hanh for many years until finally I decided to get this audio book and listen. It’s often said there no coincidences in this universe for it was now at this point in my life that I was ready to listen and to really hear this Master’s message. Very peaceful feel afterwards and some new tools for my practice. Awesome!!

At first I had my doubts since this was quite a departure from Mr. Grainger’s previous series with D C Smith and crew. However, I have to say I truly enjoyed this story and its characters and the plot drew me in until I was sad to see it end. I hope there will be more after this one. Highly recommended!!

That I stayed thru to the end.
Revisado: 06-19-24
I got the book because it was a male author and a male narrator as opposed to a lot of current mysteries by women authors and narrators. Nothing against that, just wanted a male perspective is all. And yet most characters were females. The reason I listened to the end was the story, Males or females, it was good.

Historia
Jo told him the phone call had been about a woman who wanted to have her husband declared dead. Smith thought for a moment and then said, 'Hmm. There must be a few million women in this country who feel like that. I take it her husband's been missing for a while and she's decided it's time to move on. In the absence of a body, which is always a nuisance, she wants Diver and Diver to confirm there's no proof he's alive. And I've told Jason a dozen times I'm not getting involved in anything matrimonial. I have enough trouble sorting out my own relationships.'

The story and the narration, 5 stars!!!
Revisado: 02-14-24
The Peter Grainger/Gildart Jackson team always gives me a great deal of satisfaction when listening to one of their stories. The way the story is written by Grainger and narrated by Jackson is like an intelectual and emotional one-two soft punch. I still have some of the images described in the book as if I had just been there, crystal clear in my mind . The level of intensity varies from one book to the next but whatever that is, it never takes away from the story and the pleasure I get from it. Thanks for an awesome job, you two!!
